J's new ride ?????

We just got a charger at our office...no one uses it because it is so impractical. You can't even put a dirtbag in the back seat....its too narrow with our gun rack in there. Front seat it is, lol!

Isn't a Charger larger than that Ford?

Psssh...maybe on the outside, haha. The opening to the back seat area is half the size of a crown vic, not to mention the doors open less, haha. On the plus side...it has a CD player and FM radio. Doesn't really help here though....all the channels are Spanish or Country.

The local departments around are trying to get rid of them; very unreliable, in the shops all the time (compared to the Vics). I heard one officer say that if he had to get another Dodge, he hoped it was a Dakota. More passenger room and space for gear.

Just about all of the cops that I've talked to seem to despise the Chargers. Too small, too harsh, too underpowered, etc.

You gotta luv the 40 MPH 8" curb test they are putting the new Ford units thru.

Oh seriously. I watched the live presentation last Friday of Ford's new PI and it was quite impressive. When they showed the Taurus going up the curb it looked like there was barely even any body movement!

Did anybody else watch the presentation on Saturday? They really did a good job with it... full 30 minutes, and they didn't even introduce the car until about the 25 minute mark. After hearing about it, it didn't so much look like a Taurus as it looked like they took a Taurus, threw it in the trash, and built a brand new car. haha

The rear doors open wider and the eliminated the lip on the base of the rear door to make it easier to get the dirtbags inside. The upgraded suspension of course. I think they said it'll be offered in AWD and FWD for highway and city use, respectively. When they finally introduced the car, though, it was great; it just crashed right through the wall of the warehouse and parked on the stage!

Do you have a link? Whats the "curb test"? Are you talking about driving over a curb?
