So I'm surprised we didn't have a thread for this yet, but it appears we do not.

I've just registered for the Homecoming in Hickory Corners / Gilmore car museum. Tomorrow (the 17th) is the last day to register online, so I'm in just under the wire.

I'm signed up but I took the convertible out yesterday and had all kinds of electrical problems. The battery was wet, it was charging at 16 volts! I hope I didn't fry things.

I had that happen once. It ended up being the voltage regulator and replacing the alternator fixed it. There were no ill consequences.

Yep, it's the regulator in the alternator. I replaced the alternator yesterday using the one from my white 98 which I'm not driving now. I wanted to make sure I used a proven alternator for the drive to Gilmore. It was pretty easy until I remembered I had to cut into the cast iron wire loom to stretch the red wire to fit a gen 2 alternator. Everything works fine now, charging at 14.6.

Ha - yeah that is a pain. I needed to do that anytime I sourced a 'Cobra' alternator.

What an eclectic LOD group for the Homecoming... a manual Coyote swap Mark VIII, a survivor convertible Mark VIII and the Bonneville Mark VIII. :reallod:

It's almost time!

I'll plan to visit the "host hotel" on the way into town to pick up everyone's packets, as usual. I will report back on success or failure at that time. :) I think we also plan to do a grocery run.. Minus bagels, of course. I hear that's covered already.
