Mark VIII vs Hemi

I drove my girlfriends car, a 99 civic LX to the the Irwindale race track a few weeks ago. Her dad has the new Dodge HEMI, on the way back I raced him a little in her car, I wanted to kicked my self in the nuts, I new I should have driven my Mark VIII so I could show him what was up.

I know he thinks he can beat me, and I think I can beat him.
Both cars are stock the HEMI is fully loaded, 3.98 gears or something like that,hitch ....and what not.

Have any of you raced a HEMI or know their 1/4 mile times?

Just a guess since I haven’t seen any road test on the new Hemi’s in trucks just yet, but if he is stock, he may pull you initially off the line due to gearing but because of the lighter weight and superior aerodynamics of the Mark VIII, top of first gear and beyond should be an all Lincoln show.

What kinds of times did his truck run? I would think if he could break into the high 15’s he would be doing good with low to mid-16’s more likely. Try and get him at the track, then there’s no excuses and you’ve got it on paper who did best. :)

That thing is a 16 second turd. You will KILL him!

They run 0-60 in the high 7 low 8 second range.

My neighbors ran a best of 16.45 @85 mph and that was with his muffler removed and a K&N.

There evil torque monsters but that Merceded Benz 5 speed is slushy at best.

It dumps you into od at 4200 rpms?

Terrible disappointment.

These are junk. My coworker rented one for a road trip (It was all they had) and I followed him through town.
Him - Gas, gas gas gas gas
Me (following) Gas, brake, gas, brake, gas brake brake brake.

Junk...Slow hyped up junk at that. If he didn't have to have it back at 12 tomorrow, we would run it on Gtech. But, I will say it sounds nice.

My buddy has a black one. It is ok for a truck, but a mark VIII would massacre it. I followed him over to his house in a 03 6.0L powerstroke and it was a no contest race against it. That powerstroke walked all over it at speeds of 10mph+.

I'm pretty sure the Excursion might take the Mark, certainly up to 50. V10 with a chip and 4:30 gears. I don't have a Mark to run it against but it would kill the Mark off the line and then it would be the Mark playing catch up till I think about 50. It is a riot to nail it off the line and roast anything for the most part up to 30.

Joe, do I get to add the NOS like you do? The 6.8 will take a happy dose of 150. If so, I think I'll take you on buddy. It sure would be fun.

I raced a buddy of mine in the Mark against his built F150 4 wheel monster with 24 inch wheels. We raced circuit style. He was behind me the whole way with all 4 wheels SCREAMING at 3:00 in the morning. I didn't want to get too far ahead so thaT he would take a chance and lose it. It was so loud. Tires, engines, exhaust, hooting. Razed some racket that night, I'll tell you.

You do know, of course, that IF you do race him with your Mark, and you do not allow him to beat you, it will be your X-GIRLFRIEND don't you?
