Neat Cruise Control feature

Maybe this is a known thing, maybe even something in the manual, but I just discovered this the other day.

While the cruise control is on, if you tap "set/accelerate" it increases your speed by 1 mph, and if you tap "coast" it decreases your speed by 1 mph. You can also give it 3, or any number of taps, and it will increase/decrease by 3 or however many mph.

Just thought I would share that.

Yep good old cruise control. I think you can also hold the button untill the desired speed is reached.

RE: Neat Cruise Control feature

I also hear that if you do nothing, eventually someday it might freeze up, sending you hurling through traffic at a speed you care not to be travelling, until you use the mental coordination to shut the motor off, andplace the gear selector in neutral, and coast to a stop, only to re-start the engine, and pray it doesnt shoot up to 6000 rpms.

RE: Neat Cruise Control feature

That 1 mph thing is pretty standard on most cruise controls

Downtown Concord, NH, '84 Corvette. I had just gotten off of I-89 and i had the cruise set at 85. Driving in heavy traffic out of a stoplight and all of a sudden i feel the pedal dissapear beneath my foot. I watch the speedo jump from 20 to 85 in a matter of a down shift (damn automatics...). Heading for a solid wall of stopped traffic from the next light up, i slam both feet down on the brakes (no ABS, crap...) and bump the stick into Neutral, dodging on-comming and stopped cars the whole time, out of options i hit the curb and put it between a telephone pole and a street sign. I popped a tire and broke a tierod end when i hit the curbing and let her plow to a stop in the dirt. Only damage: Bent rim, 1 popped tire and 1 broken tierod, i had the whole thing replaced, and the cruise control disabled.

My beretta's done the same thing to me a couple of times (albeit without the crashing at the end :) ) I have no idea what to do to safely, for you and the car, to do here. If you put it in neutral, it revs dangerously high, and if you shut the car off, you lose your power steering and brakes? This is reason #192 the Beretta's now parked I got my sweet lincoln :D

RE: Neat Cruise Control feature
