Non-return style fuel system

Putting on an 04 Mach 1 intake. Would prefer to use the stock rails it came with so I dont have to get the lower intake manifold ground down and modified.

Has anyone converted or know of one? I am betting its not possible since the car it not setup for variable pump control but thought I would ask.

Ponyfreak has done this, and I believe Jeremi as well. It IS possible, you just have to run all new lines. Why are you doing the Mach 1 intake now? And why aren't you a paying member anymore? :)

I never was a paying member :)

Mach 1 intakes dont sell as well for some REALLY odd reason. Pretty sure its the missing snake -no joke. And when people search, "cobra" is what they look for on eBay.

So I picked up an 04 Mach 1 intake with ALL sensors, injectors, rails, etc. Also included was the exhaust manifolds, EGR tube (looks new) and main engine and secondary harness. For $250....

In turn I cleaned it up and want to swap it out and sell the Cobra one I have. I prefer to keep them paired right and the Mach lower does have some factory work done.

But the Cobra lower I have is altered for a return setup and I would rather not hack the Mach lower for the same reason.

Looks like the return system is better anyway. So now I may look for after-market rails for 99+ Cobra. I dont think anything left the factory from 99 up had return.

Use 2nd gen rails and 2nd gen fuel lines up to the filter area.

The tabs need to be modified, but it's a solid setup, looks factory, and will be the least expensive.

You can also buy the fuel pressure regulator adapter from KB, and use the 99+ cobra rails. But then you have to make a new return line from the regulator to wheel well.

Both of those solutions are not chop jobs, just very clean and functional setups.

Thank you! Right now I am using Cobra return rails. They fit fine EXCEPT where they mount. The tabs do not all line up so bending them would not work which is why I ground off the mounts and used the intake bolts to secure them. It does not look well done.

I'll key an eye out for Gen 2 rails and see how they would mount.

Just want something that wont break the bank since I am running a stock engine.

Might be. I just want to make sure they dont need too much fab work. I found the upper fuel lines (from filter up) for cheap. Im still looking around for used performance rails also but those are not to plentiful compared to 1998.5 and older.

Cool...let me know. I'm gonna keep the fuel injectors for my 5.0 project and no one seems to want the intake so I was gonna junk the rest. Pay shipping and they're yours. :)

5.0 project?

Are the rails off by chance? What I really need to know is the distance between each mounting tab hole. Each side will measure different I think. If you can let me know, that would be cool and if they line up I may just go that route. I like the look of the chrome rails and dont care for the after-market stuff.

I have an 89 240sx that I will be putting a 5.0 in once I get into a house. Just kinda collecting parts right now. :)

I already test fit the engine in one of our parts cars......

What mounting tab hole? You mean where the fuel rail is bolted to the intake?

I am moving and don't have my tape measure but I will get it for you tomorrow...you got a soda can at your place, I can measure it with that. :)

Holly crap! At first I though that WAS the host car! :)

Not sure how accurate a soda can is, lol..

I guess they are the same on each side, at least with the 04. Mark rails may not be. 9.75" is what I have for each side. A little one way or the other may be ok since I can drill new holes, etc.

Well let me know when ya can, no rush.

They do not line up. You have to cut off the tabs, and bolt up or weld up a new set of extensions to reach the bosses on the intake. I'll dig for some pics of my old setup from the CE, which although it used the blower intake, for your purposes is exactly the same as the cobra rails are all the same 99 to 04.

Ah... ok. See I have return cobra rail on the car already. Sorts dont want to have to cut and weld anything if I can avoid it. If I must, I must but would rather go aftermarket, even is used ones pop-up.

You don't modify the intake, you modify the rails, but it can be done in a way that it will look stock.

Either pay for all the aeromotive crap, or spend nothing on 2nd gen rails, and fab up couple brackets for $1.
Remember it's not only rails you have to buy. New fuel lines (even if short ones), rails and fittings will easily run $400 total if you go to aftermarket setup.
I doubt you'll ever take advantage of 1/2" rails anyway.

Or use the returnless rails with KB adapter. You'll have to fab up the return line = 3rd picture >>>

As I mentioned before, although the pictures show a blown lower intake, the bosses and the mounting idea is exactly the same on the n/a manifold.

I like the idea of the adapter....

Thanks, that all helps a lot. Like I said I have Cobra return rails, so no need for Gen II then if they are the same really.

KB = Kirban?

Trying to locate that part to check price and see what I would all need IF I go that route.
