Odd Startup Question

The past two days I have gone out in the morning to start Mr. Mark. He turns over fine and will initially fire and start right up. But he'll quickly die. I have found that I can keep his heart going though. As soon as it fires I am able to depress the accelerator slightly and hold it for a few minutes and then everything is ok.

This is only happening on the initial morning wakening. The temp has been about 15 each morning. Cold, but not frigid. He is parked on a slight hill, nose down.

Any idea what may be causing this? Perhaps a frozen choke? Thats about the only thing I can think of. Also the fuel tank is full, so I don't think it could be water in the gas.

RE: Odd Startup Question

no choke on fuel injected cars.

Could be a bad sensor somewhere, or something like that. That sounds like it could be an elusive fix... esp. if it warms back up and the car starts working properly.

Car started up just fine this morning... but it was also warmer. 28 degrees, and no frost on the car. :)

The neighbors vette really needs a cleaning.

No doubt its the IAC. I just had very similar problems. Car would run fine as long as I didn't let it idle. Started out only doing it occasionally then became permanent when winter arrived. Replaced IAC...$90 list from Ford. Unfortunately, didn't have time to order from Max at Five Star for the discount. It took about 3 minutes to change and that includes opening and closing the hood.
