OIL TEMP SIGNAL ERROR

I just swapped my engine out and I ran a check of my message center in the dash. OIL TEMP SIGNAL ERROR. I assume it is the sensor that is in the side of the oil pan. My local ford dealer has no idea what sensor it is. The owners manual says go to your dealership asap. I alredy did and they could not help me. Any ideas?

RE: OIL TEMP SIGNAL ERROR

You are right, it is the sensor in the side of the oil pan. I'd check the wire and connection first.

RE: OIL TEMP SIGNAL ERROR

no just unscrewwed the old one with an adjustable wrench and put in the new one and pluged it in.:)

Thanks, I did not think that it would. I am replacing the crank sensor and cam sensor, in addition to the oil temp sensor. 1993 mark VIII , 88,000 miles, purchased by me 11/1/2021 from original owner. Drove it home 1 1/2 hrs, drove it around another couple hrs. after changing oil, fuel, trans filter. Engine quit, did some battery cable repairs then tried to pull codes and could not get anything useful, most likely because the battery was disconnected overnight and it will not run. Car ran great up till it didn't. Love the tire smoke!

Check for fuel pressure at the schrader valve on the fuel rail while someone cycles the key on/off.

I put the cam sensor in and that fixed the problem, the crank sensor will be changed also since the wires look suspect. I did check fuel pressure although not with a gauge, I am going to check the wiring to it also. The car sat for 6-7 years before I got it so wire connections seem to be an issue. Where can I get the oil temp. sensor, cant seem to find one listed?
