I just bought a 71 Mark III with "Sears Tires". The tires are bad and need to be replaced. There is no current size markings, ie. 275-50-15. They say Sears Tires on the side. The only thing that looks like it could be a size reads LR 7 8 - 15. Antone know how to reed these old tire markings?

RE: Old Sears tires

Is there is sticker on the door jam or an owners manual, if so look there.

My guees is a 15" LR 78 series, if so you can use:
P235/75Rl5, P245/70Rl5, P255/65Rl5, P265/60Rl5, P295/50Rl5

RE: Old Sears tires

Thanks for the info. I would love to find the history on this car. The tires are three years older than dirt, but the tread looks almost brand new. I'm looking forward to getting tires on this car and take it out.

RE: Old Sears tires

If you go to www.coker.com, you will see that 225 R15 ( I don't know why they don't list the series)was the closest to stock tire for your car. Coker and www.universaltires.com have the exact tires for your antique Lincoln.
