Brax makes some of the finest amps on the market. I love the clean look of them. The only thing I dont' like about the Brax amps is the crossovers. You have to use crossovers chips, they don't have variable xo's. That can get really annoying when you are experimenting to xo points, and you have to make a new chip each time, take apart the amp, put it in, listen again, etc.
How good of a deal are you getting? IMO if your wanting super high end amps, you may want to try the zapco comp series. Better XO's clipping indicators, and if you've ever seen the inside of one, it has one of the most solidly built boards out there.
thanx for the reply,
I used to work for Clarion/Audiotec Fisher distributor, but the prices we had on them were simply crazy. Now, I can get them straight from Germany, for around $350-$500 depending on the model plus shipping around $50. Crossovers are no problem, they would send me 4 chips of my choice. I know Zapco is also in the top, but I can't locate them for that kind of price.
p.s. Have you seen the inside of Brax ? Artwork is what comes to my mind ...
They are checking into shipping and possible duty taxes. The problem is that only 2 people there speak English well enough to communicate. They have X1000 for 300 euro$, but I know the shipping will be a b#$#$. I should know real soon ...
the rate is actually like 1 to 1.08 so it's pretty close. If I can get the X1000 shipped to US for $400 total that would be awesome. That company also sells Helix, the lower line. But I don't like that they show the insides through plexi and the whole amp lights up red. Yuck. But they have good parameters as well. Talk about low THD.
I've always like amps with plexi to show off an awesome baord (US amps does this too I beeive) but I didn't know they glowed red? Yuck! Ilike to look of Helix, but it's not enough power for me. I'd stick with Brax. LMK as soon as you get some info, I've been wanting Zapco, but as you said, that is too good of a deal to pass up!Heck, I could sell them for twice that if I so desired.
Hmmm I wonder if they have any Brax Platinum's left. A couple went n ebay for like $6000. Super power, clean 6 channel amp, perfect for what I want...Ahh who am I kidding, could't afford one at 1/10 the price of retail, they only made 50 anyways.
