question involving 1977-1979 lincolns in general

recently on ebay I found an interesting 1977 town car for sale.

apparently as an option it had an alarm system built in on the drivers front fender

basically there was a place where you put a key in the fender... im not explaining this well anyways heres the description from ebay

"There is even a fully functional factory ALARM (works by turning the key in the drivers side fender - key included)"

just curious as what was the prize of this option? ive never seen it before even on the top of the line lincolns like the diamond jubilee or collectors editions?

Welcome! :)

I think that's an aftermarket alarm that was added.

For an anti-theft alarm, we use to have to hard wire pin switches, relays, sirens...

and key switches.

That's pretty cool! Never seen that before.

I remember having a '75 Chevy Van that I installed an alarm system on. They had me install the key activated "ARM" switch just like that. Mmeories!

I cringe every time I think about how many keyed alarm switches I installed in cars in the '70s and '80s.

I have a '77 TC with 18,000 miles. I have all the service manuals and owner's manuals and there is no mention of a factory alarm system.
