I was at work on friday and got a txt message from Tiffany.
It said.
"I've made a decision, you are racing tomorrow"
HAHA, I love tiffany!
I hadn't raced since November of 2009 at NMRA race in Houston.
My first RT was a paltry .061 light and the car ran a turd second gen 15.4 in the texas heat with a 2.36 60' foot.
yes my new car is slow, but.. I AM AT THE TRACK!!
Second TNT pass after 1 hour cool down netted
.004 rt
2.27 60'
9.91 1/8th
15.21 1/4
^ now THAT is "in the hunt", considering there is a .5 ET swing from summer to winter.
So in good air, a 14.60ish pass is possible.
These runs were made at 105 (air charge temps)
TNT was 1/4 mile but Eliminations were going to be run in the 1/8th mile.
They call round 1 of Street Stock to the lanes.
I put a 9.89 on the car, with my quickest TNT being the 9.91 1/8th above.
hows that for confidence in predicting your dial in? lol
A lexus with a 8.50 dial in is my round 1 opponent.
Lexus Me
8.59--dial--9.89
.636 --rt---.022
2.11--60---2.27
8.92--1/8--9.84 on the brakes <--ouch haha wtf??
I killed my opponent on the tree.
I got to the 330 mark and started "checking my opponent" and couldn't see him
So I had to look back and further down the track to FIND HIM
he was WAY WAY the hell back, and my brain is saying HIT THE BRAKES.
AS I turn back to "find the starting line"..I see the score boards go flying by..(oops) and the win light DOESNT burn brightly in my lane.
I knew instantly that I had broken out..
finish line margin was 1.07 <--he was OVER 10 car lengths behind me.
LMAO
I "got lost" during the pass (A FIRST) I lost my orientation in the pass and totally took myself OUT of round 1 of the Trophy race.
HAHAHA
So I had invented yet another way to lose a race, "I got lost".
HAHAHA
Since I couldn't "win a round" in the street car race.
I dont know what made me THINK i should go "pay more money" and enter into the Jackpot race, but..I did.
HAHA
Round 1 of Jackpot immediately follows Round 1 of Street Stock.
So I knocked .01 off my pass above and painted a 9.83 on the window and prepared to lose round 1 of Jackpot.
I get paired with a motorcycle
me--------bike
9.83--dial--6.89
.0117-RT-.-0123 (RED) My win light turned on as I hit the 60 foot clock!
2.26-60-1.5
9.86-1/8-6.97
(win light burning brightly in my lane)
I gave up .03 in et on my dial in and that wont win round 2.
They call round 2 of Jackpot
Me-----Nova
9.85-dial-6.33<--fast
.067-RT-.1441
2.28-60-1.65
9.91-1/8th 6.38
finish line margin .06 left lane (I was on the brakes)
Win Light Burns brightly in my lane.
My RTs were scaring me, I generally dont want to be quicker than .030
the .004 and .011 lights had me worried about a red light in the final round
Final Round of Jackpot
I staged as gently and shallow as possible.
I got the staged light to blink briefly then turn off which means I was right on the verge of the beam, thus staged very very VERY SHALLOW.
Orange Crush------Grandmas Car
6.97----dial----9.90
.-0259-RT---.-0511 (red, both lanes..but I went red first..handing the win to CRUSH)
1.599-60--2.26 <--my car is consistant in the 60 today
6.91--ET--9.9013 <---WTFWTFWTF..my car "runs its dial and I throw it away on the tree.
HAHAHA
there is no better round to lose than the FINAL ROUND.
had a great time at the track, win or lose...its always a great time at the track, seeing old friends/family.
Elated I go to the winners circle and collect my money, which was exactly what I had paid in fuel, food, entry fees etc.
I didn't make a profit, but anytime you get to RACE FOR FREE its a good thing
Many thanks to Tiffany for "making me race".
