Shifter trim, 1995 Mark VIII

How does the shifter trim come off. I don't want to break it. Thanks.

Apparently it is slightly different from the '93(which I have had off many times). From the manual...

Removal and Installation

1. Remove shift control selector lever. Refer to «Section 07-05».

2. Remove center A/C-heater instrument panel finish panel (04338).

3. Remove instrument panel finish panel (044D70).

4. Remove two screws retaining console finish panel (04567) to radio control cover (04530).

5. Unsnap RH rear corner of console finish panel and then disengage three retaining clips from LH rear corner.

6. Disconnect cigar lighter socket and retainer (15055), lamp and switch connectors and remove console finish panel.

Note:

You do NOT have to remove the shift control selector lever. With the ignition on - place the shift lever in neutral. You may then lift and turn the panel 90 degrees to pull over the shift control selector lever.
