Does anyone have just stright pipes or have heard stright pipes if not what mufflers did you use and can anyone post sound clips of there exhaust and what would be better flow??
1. keeping the crossover
2. getting rid of it
3. getting 2 crossovers (i've seen it done)
4. stright pipe instead of muffler
5. getting aftermarket muffler

RE: Straight pipes

I have seen a few different setups on here. Some have used a muffler in place of a x-pipe and ran pipes out to the back without any other mufflers. Alot of people say that having a double x-pipe helps to eliminate drone. There are some posts with sound clips in this section if you want to take a look around.

RE: Straight pipes

I do not recommend running mufflerless unless you plan to drive it only a few miles at a time. One of my friends did this on his '98 LSC and it isn't any fun to sit in his car for any period of time.

RE: Straight pipes

i dont have the 2 rear mufflers on mine and i love the sound. i did lose some low end torque though but it sounds great.

RE: Straight pipes

yeah at first i had taken off my back mufflers and replaced it with only pipes. i had to weld hangers on my pipes so it doesnt rattle. it sounded really good. but i decided to go louder and put pipes straight out of the cats its real loud but it sounds good. if your worried bout being to loud just take the mufflers off.

RE: Straight pipes

I had a vid of Mdnitedrftr's car with straight pipes... dammit I can't find it, anyone else?

RE: Straight pipes

i have heard very few cars with straight pipes that sounded good and none of them where marks.

RE: Straight pipes

I cut off the mufflers and ran straight pipe it sounded good but the laws up here dont allow it. as i found out when i got it inspected.

RE: Straight pipes

I ran my car for a while with no mufflers and I loved the sound. I think the downside is you lose low end torque.
