Tinters in MA?

Well I just got my new rear window put in after it was smashed the other night in an attempted theft/break in. Nothing else damaged, nothing stolen, they must have ran off due to police or alarm (it was in the middle of providence ri). Anyway insurance covered the new rear window and will cover up to $100 to retint the rear window.

I previously had 13% tint on the rear, it was put in with three pieces, the seems matched up with the defrost lines pretty well. Although you could see it, I always wanted better.

I found a place called xtreme clean, they will tint the rear window in one piece. They want $125 and give a lifetime guarantee. They only offer down to 20% in one piece (next step is 5%), otherwise the film is too thick and they need to do multiple pieces. 20% is ok but not really as dark as I wanted. Also this place is way out of the way for me.

Can anyone from south east MA recommend a good tinter that will do it in one piece?

I'd hardly think you could tell the difference between 13% and 20%. All other things being equal, I would go with the one piece. $125 seems a little pricey for just the back glass IMHO, but maybe since they know it's an insurance job?

BTW, would you take a polygraph test to this statement?

Seriously, I would be thinking the same thing if I was in your position, but I didn't do it, it's a legit vandalism!!! I was freekin pissed when I got back to my car, I expected my whole sterio to be gone adn my car to be trashed. But I didn't smash it, that's insurance fraud, it's illegal, and it's not cool. But I guess it's just one of those little blessing's in disguise, my seal was starting to look bad. I NEVER thought insurance would cover the tint because it's not glass. But they said they would cover up to $100. I didn't even tell the tinter it was an insurance job, I'm just faxing the reciept to my insurance company and they are cutting a check. The only place I could find that did a one piece tint was this one. Some other places wanted about $100 for a multipiece. I don't mind tossing in $25 of my own money to get one piece, although I think it's expensive. Three years ago when I had it tinted it was $150 (the tree piece rear window place), now that same shop charges about $225 for the same job. Talk about out pacing inflation. Anyway, I'd like to find anoter shop that is close and does one piece, I've been making calls but haven't had much luck.

Common Eric... a little insurance fraud never hurt anyone... :p

I'd go for the single piece, I used to know this guy who did an awesome job on one of my cars, but I think he may have been whacked since then, no one's been able to get in touch with him for a few years now. Too bad too, the car he did was 35% all around, one piece rear, for $200, and it was seamless, even when you put the side windows part way down, he blended the seams right into the bevel of the glass.
