Beat him!!

We were rolling side by side at about 20 mph when the light turned, I already had the car in first and kicked it. The lanes merged in about 100 feet, so it was for position. By the time he got everything together I was half of a car ahead of him. We hung side by side like that with his nose at my door handle for about 50 feet past the end of the lane then he fel in behind me. Luckily we didnt go through a shift, He had a 6 speed and I would have definitely gotten blown away on the 1-2 shift.

It turns out it was this kid I went to high school with and he was just bringing it back from the dealership and showing it of to one of his friends.

I realize that in any normal situation I would have had my ass handed to me, but until we get a chance to really race, (next wednesday night at epping) he still lost to a "Grandpa Car"

I don't know, if he knew how to powershift, he probably could have taken you on the shift too. Either way, good kill! He gave chase, that makes it a race!

RE: Trans Am WS6

I don't know about that Dave. I have driven WS6's. A girley friend had one. Yes, Yes, they are fast, BUT.... A hard-shifting Mark from a roll is a hard car to beat. I have lost very few from 35 on up, or from 70 on up. Those are the Marks sweet spots. Keeping the revs over 5000 grand and your in. 1st gear at 35 and 2nd gear at 70. The car pulls really strong from those gears. Give me some 4:10's and you will be very, very tough to beat, FROM A ROLL, especially with a chip. Forget off the line. The car is a boat in case any of you haven't realized. Almost 4000 lbs. Obviously the shift points will change with the gears and I have not personally run 4:10's, so I am talking out of my arse right now, but this is my opinion and I am sticking to it.

Well, I was calculating the AVERAGE weight of an American male into the equation. Maybe your personal statistics tipped it slightly to the high side.:7

I dunno, Jay is pretty skinny. When i weighed my '94, it was near 3900, plus 225 lbs of me.

It's hard to beat from a roll, and the mark can shift like hell, but give me a stick-shift WS6 and i'll whoop up on a relatively stock mark all day long. At least until i miss a shift.

I'd say I definetly weigh less than the average American male. I just barely brush 140lbs. I'm 5'10" as well. So you can tell that I am fairly skinny.

One possible answer to the weight of my car is that it is fully loaded. Every single option available on the 96 Mark, my car has. I'm not sure if these others cars' weights are fully loaded marks or not. Either way I'm happy with my big phat car :)
