Ubly Dragway, Oct 24th.

Well, it was a cool day at the track and the last event this year. Trying different tire/rim combinations and different drivers, however both my car and Dave's didn't bring any new times. Best of the day were respectively 13.0 and 14.0 with poor 60' in both cases. My car felt really slow, however I was able to trap 108 mph. The shifts are where I think I'm loosing some time, both the 1-2 and 2.3 leave 3-4 ft of rubber, even at this supposedly sticky track. I'll say one thing ... it's time to get serious with this car and prep for the next season. I dropped 2.4 seconds and gained 15 mph when compared to the last year's times. I think my goal for the next season will be the a high 11 second pass. Nonetheless, it was a fun season.

Well, I wouldn't snivel about a 13.0 seconds @ 108 MPH. ;)

JP, you know it's never enough. Now, I have a real dilemma where to go with this POS. I gotta write up all options and do a poll or something.

I like that idea(a poll). :)

You could just gut the POS and give me the vortech? }( {me votes for that choice}

RE: Ubly Dragway, Oct 24th.

I made 18 passes. A lot were 14.0 but i couldn't hit 13's again for some reason. That makes a total of about 80 passes for the year.

I ran a bunch of 14.0's and a bunch of slower times. I let Jeremi run my car (he's a lot lighter) but he couldn't do any better. Of course i had to screw up and fill my tank before going out, so i was carrying about 80 lbs of extra fuel.

Traction was a lot better than lapeer last week, but not as good as Ubly usually is. I couldn't hit a 1.9 either. I did get a few 100 mph passes though.

I have some plans for the winter. If Joe still has that electric water pump for sale i'll probably take it off his hands. I'm also going to get my drivers side header redone, and i'd like to get my complete exhaust redone too. It's been cut and welded and bent and crushed too many times and i think i can get a good 10 hp out of rearranging it. Nothing serious, though. If i can come up with an extra few hundred bucks, i may spray it.

Dave, what do you have for a tranny in your car?

80 passes is stout. I am curious what you have done to beef up your slush-box. I had only 21 passes on my JMOD'd tranny, and it took a dump.

I am installing a built 98 tranny, with all the goodies, and a Mach 1 converter(for now).

I'd appreciate knowing what you have done to yours, what converter, etc.

Thanks

RE: Ubly Dragway, Oct 24th.

Craig, i have the stock '97 tranny. When i got it i did the "J-mod" and i also have a tune that firms the shifts up a bit (but needs to firm them up more). That's all i've done to it. Of course, i use Mercon V fluid and change it about once a year. And i have a tranny cooler. When i did the j mod the pan had never been dropped, and the car had 62k on it. It sure looked like the original tranny fluid in there. So far i've been lucky, i hope it holds out a little longer.

When it goes i'll probably drop a stock '98 tranny in there and call it good.

Dave, I never asked you how you liked the way my trans shifts at the track ? Does it seem ok ? I might have Lidio take out some pressure to make it softer ... I hate loosing traction.

RE: Ubly Dragway, Oct 24th.

Your car still accelerates even when it's spinning on the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts. And i like the shifts harder... if anything i'd tell him to firm them up more.

Your car leaves two 10 ft long black strips, about 9 inches wide, real dark black, every time you hit second at WOT. :)

You guys need more power. Short runner intake, intercooler, more PSI, and convertor.
[/div]

well, duh. :). But i think i'm gonna spend my money on a boat this year. 65 mph is plenty fast when your in the middle of a lake with some hot women }(

RE: Ubly Dragway, Oct 24th.

AMEN to that....
Nothing better than hot chicks, wet in bikini's !
You can't get that with short runner intake, intercooler, etc... :)
