Visteon Mach MP-3 players

With "LOD" Since 1997
I have been talking with Terry, the gentleman who works for company that has a few of these. Right now he is working on a custom harness to get the stock CD changer to work with the unit. They will be about 300.00 dollars and it should fit into 95-98 Marks.

Some of the features are:
plays regular cd's, 10 hours of MP3 music files on 1 CD,up to 255 MP3 songs in 253 user defined directories, scan & seek MP3/CD/CDDJ, repeat MP3, Full compatability with Ford oem CD Changers.
Mach Trac easily accesses any song on on the MP3.

RE: Visteon Mach MP-3 players

Oh how cool is that!!!!!

Does it play the MP3 files from the stock unit in the trunk - or from the front slot - and regular CDs from the usual truck unit?

RE: Visteon Mach MP-3 players

Well, it IS plug 'n play for me, but;

1) I wish it had speed sensitive volume (like my factory one)

and more importantly,
2) I wish it could scroll Artist and Track Title (like my current MP3 unit).

I'd buy one then.

And Dave,
Does it play the MP3 files from the stock unit in the trunk - or from the front slot - and regular CDs from the usual truck unit?

Only the head unit can handle MP3's.
The stock changer is still only a CD player.

That's pretty cool. So is that a direct replacement for the stock head unit in my LSC (JBL, no changer)?

I figured that - but I thought it might of had some sort of processor in it for the truck unit to feed into the head unit and out.

A regular CD unit can actually read an MP3 file - it just doesn't know what to do with it.

Are there any other competitive units that add MP3 and keep the trunk CD?

Yes, he has it working in a 97 right now with no changer.

RE: Visteon Mach MP-3 players

Dave: the guy offering the units is working on an adapter jumper cable to make the changer compatible. I look at the changer as being redundant. If you are using store bought CDs, you are lucky to get 175 songs across 10 CDs. If you burn your own for your trunk changer like I do, you will get about 250 or so. Now you can get that on just one MP3 disk in the dash. I don't see why you would even want to use the changer.

If you go with MP3s or just burn WAVs, let me know if you can't find your favorite song. I have about 20,000.

Will it work in a '95 with JBL and no changer? is this thing internally amplified? what about sound quality, and longevity of the stock JBL amp?

Yes, if it is a DIN and a 1/2 size, Yes, and I will let Terry answer your other question but you will have to wait to Monday until he gets in to work.

RE: Visteon Mach MP-3 players

I'd like to pick one up for my 96. I would think it should work just like the 2nd Gens since I have the exact same head unit. If it is for sure that it will work on a 96 I want one.

RE: Visteon Mach MP-3 players

I just want to know if the illuminating lights are blue-green like the factory dashboard lights or green as in the pictures.

RE: Visteon Mach MP-3 players

Thats another great question I thought about last night comeing home from work. Its going to look kind of odd at night if there a different color. Hopefully they kept the same color. Maybe Steve can get an answer to our question.
