What's your dream system?

Right now I would have to say my dream system would be,

Rainbow Reference comps $7000
Tru-Technology C-7 $2500
Pioneer P9 Head Unit $1200
Pioneer P9 Processor $800
2 Kicker Solo X's $3200
4 Tru-Technology SH-1 $14000

All prices retail of course, you can find most for cheaper.
The Solo X's are Rated for 5000 Watts RMS, but Mike Hughes has given them 8000 watts, and they weren't even to full X-max! Gary Biggs won a Sound quality comp with them, but he only gave them 4000 watts.

The SH-1's put out 6000 watts each, that should be enough to pound the kickers (2 amps per sub). This would of course have to bea different car, snce the box sizes for the kicker can exceed 10 cubes each.

RE: What's your dream system?

great subject dj.

here goes...

pioneer P9 combo or the alpine f#1 status (depends on if i include visuals with my audio) - $1200 or $2500

Rainbow References - $7000

Scanspeak Revelators (midbass) - $500

Image Dynamics IDMAX (x3)(Ported) - $1050

or

JL 13W7 (x3) - $2250

Sinfoni Amplitude 150.2x (x2, for the front stage) - $$$

Sinfoni Amplitude 150.2x (one for each sub @ 2ohms mono) - $$$

or

Zapco c2k 6.0 (x2, for the front stage) - $$$

Zapco c2k 6.0 (one for each sub @ 2ohms mono) - $$$

all zapco amps wired with their symbilink stuff.

cant find prices for any sinfoni or zapco gear, but ive been told quality comes with a hefty price tag and theyre 2 of the best when it comes to amps.

dj, i didnt know u were into tru-tech stuff. the other forum i go to, elitecaraudio, just had a group buy on their stuff. they had a ton of people together and got alot for real cheap.

jesus, i had to hit the edit button about a million times cuz i kept changing my mind. id have everything professionally installed to my specs and would probably end up spending as much on the install as i did on the equipment. all of this could easily be done in my car except the Rainbow speakers since id have to do some creative door mangling since there wouldnt be too much room for kickpods. i need to win the lottery already so i can go through with this. of course, if i won the lottery, this would be in each of my cars, the ones it would fit in that is.

RE: What's your dream system?

Good system Paul. I beleive the Zapco 6.0's retail for $1600 each. I can't think of the sinfoni prices off the top of my head, but you can find them at www.ampmanaudio.com

You might want to try a 9.0 for your subs. THey are super effecient amps, and sound oh so very clean. I had a friend that replaced a tarantula with a 9.0 and even though it was less watts, he said it sounded 10 times better.

I was told about tru about 2 months ago, and I called and talked to John Yi, the head honcho over there. He sent me some info on their products, and I was very impressed with the copper series. I talked to a friend who does a lot of reviews for people, and he told me the C-7 is musically one of the best amps he's ever heard. 125 watts x4 at 4 ohms, (very much underrated) and .67 ohm stable on each channel. No XO's to possible muddy up the sound. Just pure power.

I have been planning on going zapco for a while now, but now I am torn. I used tru for the dream system since the C-7 works well with the rainbows. Since i will prolly stick with my 3 way set-up in the front, I think I will still use Zapco, a 4.0 for mids and highs, and 6.0 for midbass.

RE: What's your dream system?

i think youll be very impressed with those zapcos. im not sure, but i think the group buy may still be going on. ill do a search for u. i wanted your opinion on my choice to go with a separate midbass driver for the references. as great as these speakers are supposed to be, do u think they'd actually benefit from a separate driver? granted the speaker i picked isnt exactly garbage, but its still not on par with a $7000 retail speaker set.

RE: What's your dream system?

i have heard rumors that rainbow actually makes a reference midrange, so you can use the 6.5 as a midbass. i have no clue as to the price though. a set of references was just on ebay last week, $3000, and no takers. i almost sold the wife's car to get them...:)

RE: What's your dream system?

theres a dude on that forum i mentioned thats selling his references for about 2 i think. hes been trying to get rid of them for a while and still no takers. i guess nobody wants to drop that kind of cash on a set of speakers.

RE: What's your dream system?

one 18" audiobahn sub, or the not out yet 18" solo baric X i think its called. Other than that, I am audio idiot. Oh yea, and some tweeteers and mids whatever. Wait, there is a 32" clarion sub, Its HUGE, maybe that, but I would have no room.

RE: What's your dream system?

I talked to a guy who just bought the 32 inch sub. Apparently it only handles like 400 watts or something. He just got it a few days ago, so he hasn't installed it yet.

the 18" solo is called the Solo X. It is out now, they have been shipping for about 3 weeks. It is freakin Huge, weighing over 100 pounds each. It will blow away the audiobahn, or any other sub for that matter.

RE: What's your dream system?

yea, Im not much for the audio without the money to back it up.sorry. It would be cool to have though. Wow, Im the first other than Paul or Dj to reply. LOl
Edit: the 32" is HUGE, I've seen pics of it at some spring break show or something. It took up the whole rear door area of some Suv. there was bearly any clearance side to sides. Yea It cant handle much though, but with that big of a cone it would be nutz.

RE: What's your dream system?

We used to have a 32 inch Clarion Sub SRW 8000. It was more of a show piece than anything else. Peak power was like 1000 W, but it could only handle a mere 300 RMS. It did move some air though, LOL.
