why do police ride your bumper?

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 2.2; en-us; SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 Build/FROYO) AppleWebKit/533.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile Safari/533.1)

So next time I should just call the the police on him.

Or you could ignore him and go about your day. :D So what he's a little close, it's no different from any other motorist out there. You wouldn't call the cops if Joe Shmo was behind you a little close. 99% of the time it would be his fault if there was legitimate reason for a "Brake Check" where a crash occured and the officer rear ended you. Unless in the off chance there were witnesses and such who would testify that they observed you brake hard for no apparent reason. But again, most people don't like cops and would probably lie on your behalf to jam an officer up.

IMO, most officers are probably tailgating someone because they are trying to get somewhere in a hurry, but not so much that they need the lights and siren. Brake checking someone (not just cops) is just NFG in my opinion because it could cause a serious crash where the people in vehicles behind you may be injured.
