Man corvettes are weak!!!!

RE: Man corvettes are weak!!!!

This just shows your arrogance Bryan. If you knew what it ment I am sure you wouldn't have said what you did. My aviatar is the logo of www.dmoz.org. I am a web editor there. What we do is help to decifer the incomeing request to be listed on search engines. We decide where they belong and how they are categorized, etc.

From our databasses, the major search engines, such as google, yahoo, lycos, etc. update their information on a scheduled basis.

RE: Man corvettes are weak!!!!

Ouch! It was only a joke.:p You mistake humor for arrogance. (How a joke made about your green dinosaur (Barney) being spun as an arrogant comment, is itself arrogant).x( Touche. I guess I should include smilies on every post with happy :) or sad :( faces so people won't get so bent out of shape. :7

I see you have a '67. Very nice. I owned a '66 Corvette Convertible. Cool to own, could not afford the insurance at the tender age of 20. Same for the Roadrunner. My friend and I bought it thinking it had a 383. Went to change the valve covers that we leaking and discovered it was a 440. Hindsight. That car would be worth 20 times what we paid for it now.

You guys don't get it. I love Vettes. I drove/drive them any chance I get. I just call a spade a spade. If the structural integrity of the Vette was so great for the last 40 years, why was it "finally" "fixed" only several years ago. Reading that first post just made me say to myself, here we go again!

The skin is a little to thin on this thread so I gracefully exit.

This post is for Bryan AKA MonsterMark (If he makes his way from LOD
over to these forums.)

Bryan,

All I have to say is unless you have throughly researched and owned your
share of Corvette's then I suggest you let the technical talk to those of us
that really are "In The Know". You are simply talking out of your anus due to
the fact that your lips don't know any better.

School is in session take your seat and learn something.

The C5 Corvette like every other Corvette before it is based on a real chasis.
The C5 unlike every previous generation runs a full fledged tube chasis that
is manufactured using Hydroform technology. The C5's frame starts out as
long sections of thick wall round tubing. Those sections are placed into a jig
that seals both ends of the tube and presurizes them with some 300 thousand
pounds of pressure and then they are mandrel formed. What you end up with
is a frame that is smooth and consistent in every location without any seams
other than at the front and rear.

The C5's chasis is one of the stiffest chasis available on a street car and the
FEA data proves this. The C5 CAN be jacked from more than just 4
locations BUT when you jack the car along the rocker pannels it must
be jacked at those locations using a "jacking puck. The reason is quite simple
really. Think of the Corvette like a full fledged race car, the body has nothing
to do with strength it is nothing more than your flesh is.. A covering stretched
over a skeleton. GM tucked the rocker pannel moldings clean under the car
for asthetic and aerodynamic design reasons. Due to this fact you simply
have to be careful jacking the car not because the frame is weak, but because
you can crack the rocker pannel moldings which are nothing more than thin
pieces of fiberglass that are bonded to the frame sections using a 2 part
resin epoxy.

You do NOT have to open the doors or hood or trunk on the C5 to
jack it up that is utter B.S and whomever said this was aparently on crack at
the time. The C5 Chasis is stiff, it's world class and that's the facts not an
opinion.

As for the ride.. Any sports car wearing wide rubber and sporting a stiff race
ready suspension will ride rough on washboard roads and will track every
groove in the road.. This ain't no wallowing pig like you may be used to owning.

Class Dismissed!

RE: Man corvettes are weak!!!!

what a bunch of friggin children. such a rediculous arguement. u people need to stop bringing up anythign ls1 powered in front of pete, its bad for u. pete, get off the computer and go spend some of that money of yours.

RE: Man corvettes are weak!!!!

When I have some time, I'll go over there and mix it up.

I can drive my Yugo into any oil change shop, have them slide the lift arms under it and take it up without worrying about the windshield cracking and the doors getting knocked out of alignment. I couldn't help but notice that the guy had to talk about weak rockers, etc.,etc. No comment about the windshield cracking. I will have to dig into this phenomenon to see if this was an isolated case. I understand all the bravado and pride-defense going on here. Did the guy take it to the local 5-min oil change shop or did he take it to a reputable shop with history of quality work on C5 Vettes to do the work?

I did not attact the C5. I said Vettes have a long history of this. Look at the original post. The windshield cracked and the doors were knocked out of alignment by putting it on a lift. I did not print that. Say what you want. All of this doesn't matter and all the excuses in the world don't matter either. What happened, happened. And I don't see you arguing whether it did or didn't. Put a puck here and a puck there. How 'bout designing a car so the average moron can drive it and the average moron can put it on a lift. Sorry to say, it is not a race car. Last I checked, it was registered as a motor vehicle with the department of transportation in every state in the U.S. with 5mph bumpers and airbags included.

Drive the dang things, enjoy them, but don't worship them. They are not an extension of .....(deleted so as to not get the post deleted).

If I were you guys, I would make sure I was there to see my car put on a lift each and every time, and I would never think of changing a tire in the driveway. Way too risky! Maybe a window sticker could be put on both sides of the car showing the attendant how to "jack" it.:)9, notice the smiley included to indicate that the previous comment was made in jest.)

RE: Man corvettes are weak!!!!

Corvettes are sports cars, engineered to be light and rigid at the same time. It achieves this through the use of fiberglass body panels. The body panels are just not designed to support the weight of the vehicle.

Would you lift your mark up by the floor boards? How about lifting it by the rockers, but not on that little ridge thats designed for the purpose?

And who says cars have to be designed for any moron to be able to put it on a lift? A vette is an enthusiasts car, or a wealthy mans mid-life crisis car. The former should have the presence of mind to always watch everything and anything that happens to it when taken in for service, and the latter should have the means to take it to the dealer, where they know whats up.
