RE: Man corvettes are weak!!!!
When I have some time, I'll go over there and mix it up.
I can drive my Yugo into any oil change shop, have them slide the lift arms under it and take it up without worrying about the windshield cracking and the doors getting knocked out of alignment. I couldn't help but notice that the guy had to talk about weak rockers, etc.,etc. No comment about the windshield cracking. I will have to dig into this phenomenon to see if this was an isolated case. I understand all the bravado and pride-defense going on here. Did the guy take it to the local 5-min oil change shop or did he take it to a reputable shop with history of quality work on C5 Vettes to do the work?
I did not attact the C5. I said Vettes have a long history of this. Look at the original post. The windshield cracked and the doors were knocked out of alignment by putting it on a lift. I did not print that. Say what you want. All of this doesn't matter and all the excuses in the world don't matter either. What happened, happened. And I don't see you arguing whether it did or didn't. Put a puck here and a puck there. How 'bout designing a car so the average moron can drive it and the average moron can put it on a lift. Sorry to say, it is not a race car. Last I checked, it was registered as a motor vehicle with the department of transportation in every state in the U.S. with 5mph bumpers and airbags included.
Drive the dang things, enjoy them, but don't worship them. They are not an extension of .....(deleted so as to not get the post deleted).
If I were you guys, I would make sure I was there to see my car put on a lift each and every time, and I would never think of changing a tire in the driveway. Way too risky! Maybe a window sticker could be put on both sides of the car showing the attendant how to "jack" it.
