RE: SSHS6

JP...nice job...glad you made it, and got to run...and a new best ET at that!

Mike might not be "Mr 15 flat" anymore... perhaps we can call him "Mr 15k spent to beat an old Gen 1"

keep us posted gang...some of us dont have SWHS (super western heavy shootouts) to go hang out at.

RE: SSHS6

Short version of a long story...

The Blue Flame will come home with a Third Place trophy from SSHS6 and ran a new best ET with a 13.441 @ 102.5. :D

RE: SSHS6

HELL YEA!!!!!

skinnies, seat time, traction, and skill......translation:

third place.

out of HOW MANY cars?...

Nice job, JP. and sweet times. look at that MPH!!! woo-yaaaa!!!!

RE: SSHS6

Made it home with no problems. Thanks to Marvins secret backroad shortcut navigation and me following. haha never would of attempted his route alone and would of stuck to the big highway roads to not mess any turns or exits up. I almost rear ended a Mercades SUV at a stoplight while looking at and waving to a Georgia cutie in next lane in one of the towns on way home. haha
We stopped off at Harbor Freight Tools and did some shopping. We both got two sets of halogen floodlights that were on sale. My packages are STILL not here! hahah i know i know, Quit your whining. ;)
JP carried the flag to the end for all of us. This was my first time at bracket racing cause i usually go only on test and tune nights and run it to the floor to only beat my own timeslips. I got kicked out of the lineup quick after first run of red lighting. Nice huh? I was more concerned with besting my 104 MPH run with a quick launch at lite and jumpped the gun way too soon and had to run in run all day class the rest of the day. :)

RE: SSHS6

Mike....I just noticed in the video...the reason your tires wouldnt smoke(or get enough heat, or get sticky) was because you were doing your burnout IN the water. That's a no-no.

you are only trying to get them wet so you can start your burnout easier.

the key is to be on DRY pavement with wet tires. You back in, stop, and drive forward about 12-15 inches so the tires are wet, but the ground is (close to) dry.

...doing a burnout IN the water will net a horrible combination of wet wheel-wells(that drip on your tires as you go down the track) and rubber that is not sticky, but gummy...it gets wet, and turns in to a sort of mayonaise-type texture.

had your tires actually gotten HOT, you might have needed a helmet....

also, mounting slicks on chrome wheels is another no-no...the chrome allows the wheel to actually turn inside the tire's bead...this can be costly(ruin the slicks), and dangerous...plus it's awful on the chrome wheels.

I was car number 73. ;) I did my best times so far at this event and had some of the best times at this event!!!

Mike, it was super meeting you again and your 'loyal' fan club! :7 That Gen2 of yours now moves as good as it looks!

Jeff, I guess you finally took the top rung of the ladder... post your times in the Quickest Lincolns of Distinction thread(oh, you too Mike).

Marvin, Evan, Gary, David... great to see you guys and let's be sure to do it again! :)

I won't bore everyone here with the track details, and start a new post in the Track forum.

RE: SSHS6

Yeah, Hey Mike you got a sweet side launch pic! Check out your tailpipe. i think its taking a leak. Or maybe was condensation from idleing and sitting in staging for hours for that first cleanup of the track.
Think i'm going to buy a large size glossy picture from Gould's site and have it framed for my living room. haha Can't be a bachelor pad without a bar and some car pics on the wall eh?

RE: SSHS6

That launch pic of Mike's is priceless! :)

It's condensation from the exhaust... look at the other pics in the collection. No wonder there was so much cleanup going on at the track.

RE: SSHS6

Sweet, Can't wait to get home and check it out. Won't let us see it at work. lol Still haven't had time to start on the procharger install yet, been to busy getting the my old residence ready to sell. Painting interior, new carpeting, and new roof and it will be good to go to new owner. Then i'll have free time to start fabbing up a front spoiler to drop the nose of the lincoln and open up the middle for the intercooler air. Kind of like the mustang SVT style.

Hopefully this weekend i can start turning wrenches on the Lincoln. i already see that the A/C lines will have to be custom fabbed 90 degrees and dryer relocated to clear the blower and ill have to make a cool rack to hold the coil packs side by side on the right side of engine. The radiator relocation looks pretty straighforward where it has to go, but the rest of the junk up front like horns and sensor boxes, i'll have to get creative on thier new locations so nothing is in front of the intercooler.
