SSHS6

RE: SSHS6

Not sure yet on the T&T Friday night. We're going to try and leave sometime Thursday and drive part way to put me there at a decent time Friday unrushed. I would need to go to the hotel first and unpack the Lincoln.

What time is the T&T on Friday? Any other details I need to be aware of?

RE: SSHS6

With those T&T hours, it's likely I'll make it then. After all, I'll need to blow the carbon out from the long trip! Do they have time trials on Saturday, or just go right into eliminations?

I say we try for 16 Mark VIIIs at the track! }(

RE: SSHS6

That's cool they have AM time trials. At WFC9, only one time trial on day one and zero time trials on day two were allowed.

Well, it appears I'll most likely be in Class A(13.50 and up), street-legal, rear wheel drive, 0.500 Tree bracket. Apparently, you can run one one pro-tree and one 0.500 tree class? That may be tempting to run two classes. The Class C is a heads up class on the pro tree. I don't get much pro-tree practice. :9

RE: SSHS6

Wow, there's a total of 50 registered so far. :)

281?? Mike, I'd figured you'd pick 15. :7

It appears that half the hotels in the area were already booked on the .com web sites.
[/div]

Half the time I go anywhere, the dot com sites say no rooms available but when you call they usually have rooms available. ;)

I'm up for just about anything. If we want to meet somewhere before the T&T, I'll try to make it. Nothing better(or more rare) than a caravan of Mark VIIIs going to the track! :)

Cool. We have three Marks so far meeting at the Sonic on Friday evening. Anyone else? :) I would suggest, to try and get there around 4-5pm, and then we can head to the track. We can get in line and wait for the gates to open at 6pm, then head directly to tech inspection, and be ready to race at 6:30pm. We can get 3-4 runs in before the rest of the people show-up and clog-up the lines.
[/div]

Ummm, let me guess... you run on street tires? :+

Shoot, it takes me an hour to unload, change tires and be ready to tech before I can run. I do like to get there before the gates open though to maximize my use of time. Usually, they start running an hour after they open and if the tech line doesn't hold me up I don't miss the opening call to the staging lanes.

Of course, I guess we could change tires at Sonic. :+

OK, We now have 4 Marks gathering at the Sonic on Friday evening :) Calling Mr. Jeff... Are you going to be Mark #5 at the Sonic? Take a break from working on the house, and bring it to Atl. I need to see that hot rod with the new interior!!! :)
[/div]

hehe not working on the house, but my lil truck has been getting quite the workout moving all my stuff. You never really know what you have till you have to move it all by hand. Found alot of lost treasures in storage, and found stuff that i didnt even know i had. (haha i'm like where the heck did i get this?) Just waiting for all my 2" wooden blinds to come in for all the windows i custom ordered from Lowes.
I have the front nose of the car taken off rearranging the F350 desil tranny cooler down and out front more from where it was mounted behind the radiator between elec fan its blocking too much air to motor i think. i don't like how it runs so hot. I'll mount it under the nose like i had my little B&M tranny cooler. that should move some more air up in there.
Also getting the cone air filter out of the engine bay which will require some creative cutting to make it fit like the mustangs do out the side.
If all goes well with my leave getting acepted for 17 days off, i'll be there at Sonic for a sugary strawberry slushy to get me all wired up like Bevis and Buthead. :)

RE: SSHS6

Driller, what are you going to do about this i read in the rules? or do we count our little factory driveshaft loop in front of the pumkin a driveshaft loop?

"A driveshaft loop will be required on all cars running 13.99 or quicker and utilizing slicks, except vehicles equipped with street tires running 11.49 or slower."

"Driveshaft loop? These cars have them as standard equipment." will be my answer.

I've never been called on that? Not even at WFC? You'd have thought I would have by now if I was going to since the sanction rules are pretty much the same at most tracks.

I don't know if there is room out the side?!

I put mine down where the silencer was. You need to lower the suspension compressor 2" to make room for the filter and no, the 9" won't fit. ;)

RE: SSHS6

Cool beans. The driveshaft loop thing is covered then. My leave just got approved so i guess i'll be seeing you guys at Sonics! :) Just registered and paid the 65.00 but i didnt see where to put my name in there or my car type. How do they know what to post on the registered list? lol i guess its going to be a fill out info form in the email when i get at home.

RE: SSHS6

IIRC, the PayPal process had where you put in your name and requested number but not the car type. I later received an email requesting the type of car.

That's great news your leave was approved. I look forward to meeting you and seeing the fine Mark VIII you own in person. You got locking hood pins? }(

I guess if I have to, I could switch the chip to the stock setting and run above 13.99. :p

Perfect! That is awesome Jeff! :) I sent a e-mail directly after I processed the paypal. In the note, I just gave him my name, address, my requested car number, year/make/model, and what class I intend to run. About a week or so later, I received a track tech card with that stuff printed on it. Send the e-mail to the guy that paypal paid. All I can say about Tech is - make sure the battery is secure. That is one thing they will look at. Not sure about the rules with a trunk mounted battery though. Might want to check the NHRA rule book to see if you need a exterior on/off switch, and if there are any spec's regarding the battery box. Not trying to freak you out about this, just thinking about what mods you have that might cause questions for the tech guys when they go looking for your battery.
[/div]

Yep, had that in mind. I still need to drill a vent hole for my vent tube i dont have installed yet. The MORROSSO box is NHRA approved and has a cutoff switch installed that kills the whole car's power. It also has to be a sealed top so i will install the rubber gasket and top also to the box. Currently i have been running it open. i don't however have a push cutoff that goes to the outside of the car. Think this will be an issue? Ill check summitt to see what they got for push type switches available that go on outside of car.

Better get a remote cutoff. I believe I heard last year there was a big stink over a car that did not have one with the rear-mounted battery.

Here is a thread over at TCCOA that talks, and shows pictures regarding a trunk mounted battery. That T-Bird they are talking about is going to be at SSHS6 too! Hope it helps.http://forums.tccoa.com/showthread.php?t=90214
[/div]

I saw and read that thread too. Mine will be nowhere near as advanced as that one. I'll just have to put a simple push cutoff switch on mine, and it sounds like it Will be an issue. I also didn't get a tech card yet. I'll email him. Thanks for the link.
