Indy will seem like it's right down the street after the trip to STL. No more cracking rims on the horrific OH/PA roads... :Dhttp://www.lincolnsclub.org/forum/images/loveit.gif -JLOD - New England Member--> www.ivotedblue.com www.airamericaradio.com--> www.bradleyreport.net www.npr.org

You think the route up by Lake Erie/Ontario is better? What is it, I-90 (post-Mass Pike) or something?

RE: WFC10 News

Both.

Last year's itinerary...

Thursday - Sign in, show, tech check-in and open test and tune.
Friday - Show, tech check-in, time trials, class qualifying.
Saturday - Show/judging, time trials, class qualifying, brackets, eliminations.
Sunday - Show/awards, brackets, eliminations, finals.

RE: WFC10 News

I did both show and race.

Ran test and tune rounds on Thursday after checking in for the car show. Hung with the LOD gang all day Friday at the car show, then ran bracket races Saturday and Sunday.

The night life's a killer though when you have to get up at 6 to be at the track by 7. :7

RE: WFC10 News

I'd suggest coming with mixing/serving instruments, since they're lighter than bottles full of beverages...Joe will likely have that covered again anyways. :7

RE: WFC10 News

Ok, guys: this is it.
Comfort Inn & Suites West
5855 Rockville Road (US36)
Indianapolis, IN 46224
317-487-9800

This particular hotel isn't listed in the group of hotels linked to O'Reilley (IRP), so it may not be the closest to the track. It's not far, though. It looks to be a decent in-between place to the track and downtown.

I know for sure it's not the icky place we stayed the first time we went to IRP; that was a Motel 8 :B

Let me know if I can help further, ok? Sorry it took me so long to figure this out - I don't have all of the papers from our last trip there in 2003. Normally, I'm such a packrat with this event paperwork . . . .

RE: WFC10 News

Comfort Inn @ 6 miles to ORP & $99/night.

Extended Stay @ 11 miles to ORP & $85/night.

Hmmmmmmmmm...

This isn't as close, but when we went to the USGP we stayed at an Extended Stay.

There's a liquor store close by.
[/div]

And we have our tiebreaker! :7

RE: WFC10 News

So is that it???

I can have the wife call and check them out for a group rate. ;)

Actually, maybe check both. We didn't even need a liquor store last time. :D
[/div]

Comfort Inn... 99/night.

Extended Stay... 69/night.

30 bucks saved per night for liquor... priceless. :+

RE: WFC10 News

Cool, JP. Does Mrs. Driller mind checking into that?

I forgot I know someone in that area - I'm checking with him to see his opinions/ideas on hotels, and also asked if he knows of a campground in the area.

Just so everyone's clear though - the extended stay is not like a regular hotel in terms of amenities. However, our room was HUGE, and they have pull-out couches, and a big comfy chair, and kitchen appliances, and frige and all that. And it was very clean too.

There was a cool little burger type joint close by which has pool tables and TV's too. And I know how to get to IMS from there. :)

She did! The prices I posted were her findings. Basically Comfort Inn was not willing to bargain, but Extended Stay did lower their price. She was estimating 6 rooms, but no guarantees.

I can have her set up a 'group rate' for "Lincolns of Distinction" and then have people call to reserve their rooms under the group rate. We need to act fast, so just give me the nod. ;)

I have stayed at the Extended Stay chain before. You are correct, the amenities are virtually nil but the rooms are more like small apartments. The cleaning staff only cleans weekly or at the end of your stay for the next resident, though I have found a 'tip' will get your room cleaned before the end of the week if you so desire.

RE: WFC10 News

I'm curious, did they happen to give you a minimum amount of rooms needed for the rate? Last year certainly wouldn't have required 6 rooms even if Jay and I had one.

RE: WFC10 News

I'm in. I do think we'll have more people coming this year, at least it sounds that way, and I think Indy may be a better location.

Now I have to figure out if Hubby's gonna come with this year since he has his own car to show off.

RE: WFC10 News

No minimum that I know of.

Beerdog definitely better come! :7

So far ...

Driller & Mrs.
Trixie, beerdog & John?
izackary
BadSax
Rene & Brad
billcu

Come on people! Sign up! :D

RE: WFC10 News

My friend actually suggested the Drury Inn in Indy. It's about 14 miles from the ORP. I wonder if Jay could get us a discount?

I know for a fact that Jay will no longer be working for Drury after this month. (I'll let him announce why once he gets his lazy self back on here, so I don't steal his thunder.)
