Gtech Pro Times

RE: Gtech Pro Times

I guess, "IF" bottom dollar price is your only concern.

I did like the G-tech first gen, at the prices they used to sell at "they were a good deal".

For 35.00, they are a STEAL.

But, for what a first gen Gtech used to cost...
150.00 isn't a bad deal for a unit that does ALOT more than the first gen Gtech.

I saw a similar unit made by "passport" it used the same program and the functions were identical, I'm sure the passport version was a bit more expensive than the beltronics unit was.

But.. for 150.00 you get
Last 10 1/4 mile runs
Last 10 0-60 runs
Incremental data on the last 1/4 mile run
60'
330'
660'
1/8th mile ET
1/8th mile MPH
1000' ET
1/4 mile ET
1/4 mile MPH
PLUS, each run give your "peak hp" and what MPH it occurred at AND your average HP during the pass.

Then it also shows positive and negative G's AND lateral G's both left and right {no need to MOVE the unit to measure lateral G's and positive and negative G's.

It also has a "braking test" mode.
It's a pretty neat unit for the money, if one of you Houston Folk want to check it out..Lemme know.

Last friday night at the 1/8th mile track the FX-1 said I ran a 9.70 and I really ran a 9.69
The 60 time was .01 off what my timeslip said and the 1/8th mile ET was .01 what the FX-1 said I'd ran.

considering the price difference, versus the amount of data and features... I have to say that the Beltronics FX-1 is better, has more features, works better, and is easier to set up.

IMHO

You get what you pay for and more functions cost more money. Enjoy whatever you choose and be safe.

RE: Gtech Pro Times

I guess the point of the whole conversation was for $ 40.00, you can't go wrong so get one and have some fun. Then everybody has no excuse to be able to follow their mods and performance gains. At least that is how I approached it. And at that price, if it gets ripped off, who cares.

Come on Moe, where are your G-Tech Numbers?

I just got back with this number.

2nd Gen LSC. Absolutely Completely Stock.
Traction Control On. Flash the Converter (Stomp On It from a dead start for you neophytes).
0-60 avg. 6.67 sec. over 3 runs.

Looking for a nice spot (ie: track) to dial in some better numbers, both 0-60 and 1/4 mile.

I must admit this was way better than expected for a 2nd Gen with the slush box shift. Geez, I can count to 3 before the darn thing shifts.

I'm calling out Bill Hamilton. My first Gen's were fast, the stock '93 could have probably matched your numbers (blown head gasket now, its dead).

The Monster WILL see 3.8-4.0 in the 0-60 if I overcome the traction issues.

But Bill, what specifically are your mods to see the 5.99 0-60.
Did you have your (BTW) awesome exhaust? Gears. Silencer removal, etc.
Just want to know for comparison purposes.

I would really like to see a speadsheet available to the members to post into, kind of like the thing that Joe was trying to do. We should do more in this area. It will create more interest, IMHO.

With these cheap G-Tech's, maybe more guys will be willing to put the
"pedal to the metal".

Oh Geez, you got me shaking like a leaf now (LOL). The 5.99 on the G-Tech was a one time deal. Usually they were in the 6.05 to 6.30 ranges. At the time my only mods were a Superchip, LMS MAF, and Borla mufflers on the stock LSC system. My best G-Tech quarter-mile time was a 14.54 in that configuration. I also ran a couple of 14.6+'s @ 97.5'ish at an actual quarter-mile track down in South Florida in 85 degree weather.

With my "awesome exhaust" system (XX-Pipes, 2.5" pipes, LMS Mufflers), I've run a 14.32 on my Tazzo unit (little fancier than a G-Tech). No real quarter-mile track times but on a nearby eighth-mile I ran nearly the same e.t's, 9.5's but picked up a little more than 2 mph while losing .1 in the 60-foot. Big exhaust meant slight loss of low-end torque for me but it sounds nice and really picks up on the big end :). Oh and I still have my stock LSC 3.27 gears. ;)

Hey, thanks for the info. You can go change your pants now. LOL.

My goal with the '98 is to make it faster than the 1st Gen's without any major mods. Just to make you 1st Gen guys feel more inferior than you already do. Everytime I grab the interior door handle, I smile.

Thank goodness I was wearing a fresh depends (LOL). If I want to run low 13's now, I just drive my stock for now '03 Mach 1 with 5-speed. That "bee-itch" will scream. For a nice mid-14 cruise, I take the '95 Mark VIII LSC :).

About the G-Tech, well, there’s a story to that one...

I went to a back road at 4:30am that has no entrance to it unless you come from the very far ends, except for a truck parking lot in the middle that is always closed. Anyhow, I take my first run (SCREECH the tires), (I DON’T EVEN REMEMBER WHAT I GOT BECAUSE OF WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THIS PART). anyhow, after my first run, I make a U-turn, and attempt to go for another run, I floor it, and as I’m accelerating once again (after screeching the tires REALLY loud), I see a slowly moving car coming out of the truck's parking lot about to go into my street, at this point, I’m doing 75 at least. I wasn’t even going to slow down, but something told me I SHOULD. So I slammed on my breaks, and got it down to 50MPH, and Low and behold, it was a COP!!! So I pass, he floors it after me, and at this point, I lost my heartbeat, memory, and knew I was going to spend the night at the county jail. So I just kept driving, and I couldn’t believe my eyes that he turned left behind me! I swear I couldn’t even remember what I ran anymore. Cuz I thought he saw me the first time, and was coming after me.

So im going to try sometime tonight, IN A VERYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY REMOTE AREAAAAAA.

RE: Gtech Pro Times

Hee Hee - so to go along with our $40 g-tech pro's we're also all going to get $60 or more speeding tickets. ;-)

I haven't tried mine out yet - car was in the shop, but watch out cause my 2nd gen kicks butt... Hopefully I'll get the kid to help me get numbers this weekend.

RE: Gtech Pro Times

That is closer to the truth than you think.

Maybe if we put our heads together, we can come up with a plausible excuse to use on our friendly police force.

But, but officer, I am in a contest to find out who has the fastest Gen 2. You just don't understand.

RE: Gtech Pro Times

OK, we finally went out. The kid was with me in the car, the car had 1/2 tank of gas, and it was 28 degrees outside. The road wasn't entirely flat, so that may have affected these numbers. There wasn't enough room for 1/4 mile time though.

0-60: 6.02, 6.13, 6.28

acceleration: .57 (twice)

HP: 238 (only one try, and I don't think that's right)

The kid did want me to tell you that his acceleration on the grand am was .65.

That was fun, we're gonna have to find a better road and do it again.

EDIT: She consistently shifts into 2nd at 6K. I couldn't for the life of me get real good traction - kept spinning the right rear tire, sometimes more than others (i.e., I did have one 6.6 something 0-60)

WOW, those are some good times!
yesterday was about 49f, I knew I should of tested mine out, the car ran like a champ.

RE: Gtech Pro Times

I tested my 0-60MPH more then once and made 6.2-6.3secs in my SECOND Gen.

MOE!
Come on, all us first Gens are waiting for those times. I want to see the a pic of the g-tech w/the 6.3, PROOF!!

Sharon's not completly stock anymore Moe. Though I do admit, with her limited mods, those are GREAT times.

Yeah, I'm not totally stock, but my mods are for looks, - I haven't made any mechanical changes except sensor lowering, removal of air silencer and tranny cooler. I don't think those would improve my times.
