98 Conti CD Change Q?

OK... for sure its a JBL head unity. The changer is Clarion but made for JBL? If that makes sense... Generally, are the pin outs on the changer end the same?

Ok...there is only ONE option for the CD changer for that year. This is what AllData says is the pinouts for the only CD changer.

In the 96 year it didn't ask which head unit was in it when accessing the wiring diagrams for the changer.

These are the correct pinouts for the stereo are these.......

Pay Attention to the Labels...C1, C2, etc....

<sigh> It is indeed a 97. He insisted it was a 96 cause he looked at the manual. I looked at the title, its a 97.

Anyway. The diagrams you provided J are for a Conti without a CD changer - but we are adding one, so we need the specs for the Remote Chasis unit WITH CD controls :) We have everything apart, just need to know what wires to add and which ones to splice into!

LOL..... OK, it the FULL CD Changer, and the deck you pictured is the one. The car came with that head unit, we are not changing it. Which is what I told you form the beginning, it HAS CD controls! LOL :p
 
Ok....than those last wire diagrams are right, let me get you connector views. The "CD version" is the one BELOW....the Remote unit is a box in the back(which I'm guessing you don't have) that seems to run everything.

Thanks (again)!!!! I'll send it to him and see what we come up with. That whole remote thing is WEIRD.

The head unit is basically fake. The tape, CD, antenna signals all go to the REAL "stereo receiver" which is in the trunk. The thing in the dash that we all call a stereo or head unit is just a "controller", nothing more than buttons. How weird. Nothing like it is in a Mark where only the AMP is in the trunk.

That's it J...this thread is now too long...too many schematics. I ain't checking it ANY more...I'm leaving checking this thread to the other 3 mods!!!
 
Hahaha! Hey bud...delete the IMG links in ALL the posts EXCEPT post number 32. You have my permission....either that or I can just remove the pics from photobucket. :D
 
The last batch you send looks good. Everything matches up, now he just has to add all the missing wires to the plug that goes into that central controller thingy. He will make a harness then from the rear to the console.

He is using a CD to tape thing now, this project will make him happy :)
