No start issues.... and a bad sound!

True, but 20k miles later and always worrying the trans was about to go during the last 8k.... I really thought is was valve body or something wacky with the trans guts.
 
Did you have to replace all the bolts? Were they all chewed up?

What did you do to find this, did you pull the trans out?

There are not bolts per say. There are four studs off of the torque convertor. These studs pass through into the flex plate and four nuts gets threaded on.

Fortunately the threads were not damaged enough to disallow the tightening of the nuts onto the studs.

So no trans re-moval needed. The nuts are pretty easy to get to with the dust cover off.
 
Oops, I misread your post. I thought you meant the bolts holding the flex plate to the crankshaft.
