got a noise in front end, any ideas?

How much torque does your impact gun have?

The torque value for the hub nut is 189-254 lb-ft.

I would check it to see if it's loose on the spindle. If it is, I'd remove it and check it for damage. If it looks ok I'd put it back on, using a new nut and the torque specs, like the manual says.

If it doesn't look loose, I'd worry that the nut was overtorqued. I've seen impact wrenches that can torque over 400 lb-ft. If it was overtorqued, I don't think I would trust it.

Of course there's always the chance that the new hub was just defective. Maybe it would be best to try to exchange it for a new one first.

You have to remove it to see if it has been damaged....if not, yes, that should fix it.
like outward visible damage?

I can't win on this issue, lol. I either overtightened or undertightened

Yeah, that reminds me of a story I read in an auto mechanic book once. It's an old story, before OSHA. It was something like this:

Imagine that you're working on a building and you need to raise a girder to the top floor. The girder will be raised using a steel cable that is connected using a U bolt. The bolt needs to be torqued to 150 lb-ft. Too much torque and the bolt will snap, too little torque, and the cable will slip. Oh yeah, the boss wants you to ride to the top of the building while standing on this girder. Anyone for a torque wrench?:)

As you didn't use a torque wrench...or know what your impact tool is set for...how can anyone ELSE tell??? Correct-o-mondo LOL....you can not win on this issue!

well my point is I will be using a torque wrench this time, but I imagine the problem is more on the tighter side than looser as I couldn't even budge the bolt. Can someone tell me what size the bolt is, I got the company to send me a replacement but I don't have a socket big enough. It's definitely bigger than 1 1/4"

yes it was a 36mm bolt and I torqued it at 185, hope all stays well, thanks guys

i drove it for a number of miles and the noise has stopped but ODDLY it comes back subtlely here and there, I dont know wtf anymore

You also torqued it on the low side....you may wish to go back and re-torque to about 210-220. Ummm, is that lb/ft or neuton meters?

I'm sooooooo f'ing pissed over this. I torqued it per suggestion here and now I gotta try to re-torque it. the sound won't go away. it didn't do it this morning on the way home til I got near my home. now its been constant. I'm gonna videotape this and post it. also the old hub (old new one) was seperated in the back. so I could see the bearings inside.

I think its my rims, I seriously do, but I can't rule out this stupid hub, is an OEM hub that much better that it would be less problematic?
