got a noise in front end, any ideas?

i did and I have to say the sound changed, it doesn't do it if I drive slow but does it now more when I turn right as opposed to previously when I turned left.

I think its my rims, I seriously do, but I can't rule out this stupid hub, is an OEM hub that much better that it would be less problematic?

I'm not sure about the rims but I'm wondering about what hub to buy for my car now too.

With all these cheap Chinese parts available now, we have to be careful what we buy.

I searched online and I'm still not sure what to buy. I wish they told you where the parts were made.

These are the hubs I found.

I'll try giving the dealership a call to see what they want for their OEM parts.

Just for a little info I called Max at 5 Star and our price for a FOMOCO OEM hub is $76.31 plus shipping. Of course it has a 12/12 warranty. As a little backround I have been in all the major Bearing Mfg in the US who make this product. The last time I bought I went with BCA, and I would also go with Fomoco for the next round. Either one are the better quality.

"also the old hub (old new one) was seperated in the back. so I could see the bearings inside."

This doesn't bode well. There are supposed to be seals in here as these are greased for life from the factory.

ok, so can you get me one? Or tell me where to go to get one? Could it be the rims making the noise? I see my future being that I buy all new rims, rotors and hubs, and its a scary fututre

On our home page, far right are links to important places. Max's contact information is there. Called "Five Star Ford". Max is the man to contact for decent pricing discounts for FoMoCo parts!

I tried to take your advice Charlie. I went to Murray's but they didn't have the BCA hub. The one thay had was an SKF hub with a 2 year warranty. I checked, and at least the bearing was made in the US. I hope it's OK, it's on the car now and it makes no noise or vibration.

They also had a replacement nut. Of course, it is different than the original 3 peice nut. It's just a one piece crush nut. I hope that's not a problem now.

hmmm, I had a one piece nut too, no 3 piece stuff, maybe I lost something? anyway I find that when I turn slowly it doesn't make the noise but its still doing it to this day, been busy to fix it anymore, I believe its my rims for some reason, I bought some grease to grease them but haven't had the desire to take it off again. I called that dude Max too, nice guy, he asked some questions tried to suggest some stuff and said I need a new nut everytime, didn't get nut with hub but oh well. Hopefully one day this will be resolved

FWIW, I replaced my front hubs with OEM Ford parts from the dealer with new OEM Ford crush nuts. I also rented a torque wrench from Auto Zone as my personal wrench is not calibrated past 150 lb.ft. I recall seeing that the backside of my hubs were somewhat "open" as well because I could see bearings inside if I looked from the right angle. Can anyone actually verify that this is either normal or abnormal? I would have figured my OEM parts would be the best of the best, but maybe I am wrong...?

The clicking sound mine made prior to replacement disappeared and has not returned after they were replaced.

Since you notice the problem when turning, I wonder if the problem lies in your rear bearings as well. Unfortunately, those are a bit tougher to replace.

I dont think so because the sound is definitely from the front left, what ft/lb did you torque it to?

I had to borrow a torque wrench from Auto Zone also. My torque wrench is too light too. They made me buy it, but when I returned it, I got a full refund, that's the way that they lend their tools now.

I've replaced 3 hubs on my red Mark now (190k miles) and every time, when I removed the old hub, the inner race remained stuck to the spindle. That leaves the inner ball bearings exposed for everyone to see.:)

Those races can be a pain to remove from the spindle sometimes too.

still makes the noise only when I turn and if I go slow it dont heres the one I swapped out

That sound really sounds like a cracked rim to me. I couldn't hear any audible noise with the wheel off when you spun the hub. Are you really sure about the rims ??
