10 Disk CD Changer

I just bought a 93 Mark VIII from the dealers bargan lot. The last owner cut the cd changer harness and kept the changer. I found some personal stuff the last owner left in the car and traded His wife a pair of sun glasses for the CD changer :) . As far as I can tell I am only missing the two harness plugs to reconnect it. With the cd removed the radio sounds like an cheep old 50's am radio. Is this normal or should I start looking for other problems?

Only use the brakes to stop and get gas.

The sound of the radio should not be affected by the removal of the CD player.

Welcome to the board, Keith! Do you still have the JBL amp installed? Or, did they take that also? Check your fuses. I am not sure if the CD player is wired in series or parallel with the amp, or if that would matter. Just thinking out loud.

IMHO, with the mods you have on your Mark, who cares if the radio works at all. :) Let the motor do the singing... Good luck.

RE: 10 Disk CD Changer

I had the same problem with my 93, the changer was gone, and the amp was blown. I had to manually wire in a new head unit and wires to all of the speakers. It still didn't sound as good as my 97 stock system. I just got a changer off of ebay, it works well for about five minutes and then the modulater dies out. This blows. Oh well Shiite happens! LOL LOL
