In preparation for the SSHS6, a test and tune session the night before at the Atlanta Dragway yielded a new best time for the Blue Flame. The second of three runs...

R/T - 0.128
60 ft - 1.935
330 ft - 5.639
1/8th - 8.684
MPH - 81.27
1000 ft - 11.310
1/4 - 13.524
MPH - 101.83 :)

Track temps were cool, starting in the 50s and dipping to the low 40s.

I wish you 13.3s tomorrow !!! Good luck !!! MPH is definitely there !!!
[/div]

I'm already pleased. :) I hope with the front skinnies tomorrow and some tuning on the fuel pressure, I can hit 13.4s.

RE: 13.524 @ 101.83

Good luck JP...hopefully Mrs Driller will snap some good photos. I am VERY intersted to see how the skinnies affect weight transfer at launch!

RE: 13.524 @ 101.83

John,

What is your current list of mods, I checked your site but I don't think it is up to date.

What helped you get your MPH above 100, that is VERY impressive on a N/A Mark VIII.

Motive 4.30 ratio Ring & Pinion

There may be some small things I'm forgetting.

I broke the 100 mph barrier last year(barely). The headers added this spring helped the average mph as well as the 4.30 gears later this past summer. The gear swap from 4.10s to 4.30s simply put the Mark VIII more in the power band quicker at the track. It took a while to see the improvement, but statistically it helped the mph more than anything else.

The real improvement came with the addition of the modded intake as it complimented the headers quite well. Had I had the intake first, the headers would've seemed to have helped more. IMHO the combination of the two breathing mods combined is what gave the most significant improvement in mph.

RE: 13.524 @ 101.83

Thanks for that detailed list John. Looks like headers and Intake are two things I can't do on my mark since I heard the gen 2 intake sucks as is... and hearders are a no no in nazifornia.

Looks like I have to look for other ways to add some extra punch to the car.

Reprogramming, gears and a good torque converter. All legal for you too. The reprogramming will make a noticeable improvement alone. This is also true with the TC and depending on what gears you go with.

I currently have 3.73s, chip, and MMX shaft in terms of drivetrain mods.

RE: 13.524 @ 101.83

My gen 2 put down a 100 mph pass with just a tune and a cobra intake. 15 flat at 100 mph. Then i put on headers, gears, and a converter and knocked it down to 13.9@100 mph. My car was going fairly quick for a short list of mods.

cobra intake
long tubes
full custom exhaust
"kale" modded suspension
4.10's
PI converter
SCT tune
MMC driveshaft
drag radials

Although i'd really only consider that 4 mods - converter, gears, intake, exhaust. Tune, driveshaft, drag radials all are basically support pieces.

You need a good TC to get you up and running to add to that combo, it will make a major difference.

Completely stock mine 224 rwhp I ran 15.01 @ 95. Cobra intake, real dual exhaust, PI TD that burned up, 3.73, Jerry W dyno tune 247 rwhp 13.8 @ 100. Detuned because of the smog Nazi of the Republic of California I was force to switch to an EEC V, added 4 additional stock 98 Cobra cats, smog pump and restrictive 96+ Mark 8 exhaust manifolds. My tuning 287 rwhp. Third PI TD failed along with the second fake performance trans, 13.2 @ 102.

I've not been to the track with one of mine new stage 3 trans and TC since I've been heavy into the testing and developing of our stage 3 4R70Ws. But I know it will put me in the solid 12s. We’ve had others that have dropped up to a full second with this swap.
