...was a new best 1/4 mile stat for me and the '93 with today's test and tune at the track. :D

The Mason Dixon Dragway was a little warmer and more humid than I would've liked for this late in September. It was certainly a lot more crowded than I would've liked. Three 'wins', two 'losses', a new best ET(twice!), a new MPH best in the quarter mile and a new sixty foot time of 1.997 seconds all kept the day interesting.

The 98.39 MPH trap speed was in 91 degree track temperatures which bested a previous 98.30 MPH trap speed back in April with 66 degree temps. ;)

My reaction times however, showed they could still be worked on. The worst was 0.176 seconds and the best RT I could muster was 0.062 seconds. Hey, at least I didn't redlight!

The worst time of the day was 14.045 seconds, so that meant my 'spread' was 0.149 seconds. Not bad for being consistent and all in all it was a good day! :)

Congrats on the new time. Looks like I better get to work on the old horse. Too many people are passing up my 13.92... Hmmm, putting the pulleys on like you should help. I need to pull the heads and put new gaskets and a shim in too.

Now if I can find the time... (I doubt that with work, school, and a wife).

You can't be sitting idly by around here Mike! I may be slow but I am persistant. :)

... have a 98lb jockey drive :p

That would free up a good bit of HP for sure! :7

Way to go JP. You are finally running solid sub 14's. Welcome to the club. Headers would put you in the 13.6 @ 100+ like Eli's car was. Not a bad place to be....

Get some tires and cut a 1.85-1.90 short time and that should yield a killer ET!!!

I'm shopping as we speak for a tire/wheel combo. I'd like to go with a 17" wheel to get some 275s back there. I don't think I want any bigger than 255s with the stock rims. I may be able to borrow a set of 275 BFGs on T-Bird wheels to try out at the track(assuming they fit).

Then there is the total wheel weight to consider. ::roll:: With a stock 10 spoke wheel and stock sized tire or a 17 inch aftermarket wheel and 275/40-17 Mickey Thompson ET Street Radial, you're looking at 47 to 49 pounds. I'm currently running 245/50-16 Nitto 555Rs on chrome 10 spokes that I'm sure tip the scales at 50 pounds plus. Compare that to a stock snowflake wheel with a 255/50-16 ET Street Radial weighing in at 37 pounds.

As much as I hate the thoughts of changing wheels at the track, it looks like that's the direction I'm heading. :B

RE: 13.896 @ 98.39...

Friend of mine has a pair of 15" t-bird fan wheels (like the 93 cobra wheels, sort of) and some sportsmans on there. Never weighed them, but we could play catch with them. Those suckers are light.

Am i seeing things, or did you manage to put down 13.896, exactly, on two seperate occasions? The date on that time slip is later than the date on the first post...

Were those the wheels I used last year in Ubly ? Those suckers were VERY light, little scary at the end of the 1/4, but that's more of a tire thing.

JP, just make more HP to offset the weight issue ...

The date on the slip is wrong. It was on Sunday the 18th. I don't know why, but it seems more often than not the timeslip date or time of day is incorrect.

LOL :7
I can't drive the HP I have now! That's why I'm looking for stickier tires! ;)

RE: 13.896 @ 98.39...

Cold weather in October and Nov. is just around the corner as well... get those new wheels and tires on and get that car running 13.6-13.7...

RE: 13.896 @ 98.39...

Niiice time. What size slicks are you going to run on the stock 20 spoke rims? I'm wondering what will actually fit on them with out rubbing issues when back end squats down.
