1964 Lincoln Continental value?

Hello, I am a new member to this forum and hopefully will be around for a while. Basically it all depends on one thing, what is a 1964 Continental worth in basically a junk condition. Car has not been drivin for about 30 years, has about 30k original miles with no damage or having been in a wreck. I was wanting to purchase this car off of my grandfather for years now and never really had the courage to ask him because I knew he would just tell me I could have it for free. I never really liked that idea. My grandfather passed away about a month and a half ago and did not have a will. He has 7 children and about 14 grandchildren. I am one of those grandchildren. He has owned various wrecking and used car business's for many many years. This is just another car in his junk yard basically but it means ALOT to me. His 2 sons both know I have wanted this car forever and have told me they will do everything they can to help me get it and restore it. Now having said all that, it goes back to the point that he didnt have a will, so if I want that car I have to purchase it. Now, only being a 24 year old just getting out of the military and me and my wife just starting new jobs we dont have a whole lot of money to go around. We recently purchased a house and are in pretty big debt as it is. I would love to buy this car for whatever they wanted, however I cant really afford that as of now. I am pretty sure any offer I make to them, they will accept just because of me and my standing with this particular vehicle, however legally I need to make a reasonable offer. Can anyone give me a rough estimate of what one would be worth? The car does not run and hasnt even been started in about 25 year. (It was started every couple of moths for a few years then left alone). I appreciate anyone who has read this long post and better yet anyone who can offer me some info.

Thanks again, Brian.

I have no idea, but welcome and good luck and sorry to hear about your grandfather.

Thank you for sentiments, I just cant find anywhere someone selling a "junk" one. I have see running ones sell in auctions weither on ebay or at auction houses, but no junk ones.

Also I live in Springfield, just a few hours south of you ;)

You say that the car hasn't been run in several years! Thaere is a lot of work to do on a car that has been sitting for several years! I may be wrong but I don't think that this particular series of Lincolns is demanding a great deal of money! I know it was a long time ago (mid 80's); however I bought one with 49K miles for $700 in mint condition! I am not sure about the legalities but a reasonable amount for a car that hasn't run in years is cheap unless it is rare or very desireable! If it was a 1965 Mustang with a HIPO 289 or a boss 302 Mustang that is a different story. I would offer a few hundred for the car because you can probably get away with that.

I did a quick search and I realize that the price went up for a restored or original in good shape; however I still think that you should bid way low and say that the car hasn't run in several years! Nobody but a diehard Lincoln fan would put the time/effort into getting the car running and the restoration!

I think the main issue is I have not seen any car from this series go for les than $2k in any condition. I was thinking $1500 would be a reasonable offer and thats what I offered. I am not sure whats going to happen with it, but im pretty confident I will get the car. There were only a few thousand of these cars made, especially with the soft top. I have seen completely restored and cherry condition early 60's go close to the $100k range. Obviously, those are very rare occurances are the most beautiful pieces you can find. Recently a very mint one soldo n ebay for like $50k I believe. Beautiful looking cars, and I hope I can add it to my garage soon. I thank you and Trixie very much for your insight.

That series of Continental are very desirable especially the 4 door convertible with the suicide doors. Very nice cars. Similar to what JFK met his demise in.
