1995 Lincoln Cont Radio will not shut off!!!

Hello,

For the last week, the drivers side door will not turn the radio off when the key is removed. I must open another door and close it. How do I fix this?

Also, the tape deck is broken, so I am going to remove it. A tape is stuck in there and will not come out. Thus I've been listening to the same songs since I got the car. Is there a way to turn the door radio feature off?

Thanks,

Chris

Nope, didn't work.

After looking into it further, the '95 Continental uses the MCN(Multiplex Communication Network) to exchange information between different modules/circuits. In your case that appears to be the link between the LF door module and the radio.

However, it still could be the fault of the 'door ajar' switch which interfaces with the door module. Unfortunately the WD40 did not appear to help, so the switch may need replaced. You will have to remove the inner door panel to access both the switch and module.

Question: Is there a way to turn off this feature? (radio only goes off when the door is opened and closed.)

Also, how to I reset the code for the auto door entry?

If there was it should be in the owners manual.

From the manual:

Keyless Entry Keypad

CAUTION:

Do not use a key, pencil or any other hard object to press the keyless entry keypad buttons. These objects may damage the buttons.

To unlock the front door (20124) and disarm the anti-theft alarm control (19A366) (if equipped),

l Enter the permanent factory code.

l Enter the owner alternate code.

To unlock the passenger door(s), press the 3/4 button within five seconds of unlocking the driver door or luggage compartment.

To unlock the luggage compartment door (40110), press the 5/6 button within five seconds of unlocking driver or passenger door(s).

To turn on the courtesy lamps and light all illuminated components, lift either door handle (22404) or press any button on the keyless entry keypad (14A626).

To lock all doors, press the 7/8 and 9/0 buttons at the same time. It is not necessary to enter the key code first. This will turn off courtesy lamps and arm anti-theft alarm system, if equipped.

To program an alternate code:

1. Enter the five digit permanent entry code into keyless entry keypad.

2. Within five seconds of pressing last button of permanent code, press the 1/2 button within five seconds of pressing the last button of the permanent code.

3. Enter any alternate five digit code within five seconds of pressing 1/2 button.

l Enter a sixth digit as follows to indicate operator's memory seat setting to be set by alternate code:

9/0--memory OFF

1/2--memory position 1

3/4 --memory position 2

l After successful programming, the doors will signal by locking and then unlocking.
