1997 & 1998 Heated Seat Switches

I decided to go out for something to eat tonight and wore shorts, not remembering it's a little colder outside now. When I got into the car, I decided to try out the heated seats for the first time, just to see how well they work. Earlier this summer, I had removed the controls because of an A/C blower problem I was having. So, since they were out, I decided to pull off the knobs and clean out around them with a brush. I put it all back together and it looked good, but I didn't try it out. Tonight, when I decided to try out the seats, I also decided to press the button that changes the setting from Back to Both. The knob pushed in and stuck. It is supposed to press in and then you press again and it comes out a little. I tried the other side. Same thing. I then removed the control ssembly and took it to the workshop to see what was wrong. I used a small blade screwdriver to release both stuck buttons and removed the off/Low to High rotary switch knobs. I also took the circuit board out of one side and put the small push knob into the hole and it worked fine. So, I put it back together again, and again it got stuck. After taking it apart again, I found the two push buttons are coded. They will each only work on one side, so, if the small switches on your heated seat bind up after you have removed them for cleaning, you have both of them in on the wrong side. Just use a small blade screwdriver to remove each side and swap them from driver's side to passenger's side. The will then work as intended. The large rotary knobs are identical.
