White with Grey leather interior. Below average miles...ABOVE average condition. Very nice. Seats 5 people and really drives well on the highway. The engine is strong and runs excellent. Good tires, Nice Shiny original Paint, Interior is in excellent condition. It is a "Ford" so the Check Engine light is on, but it is a common thing for every Ford product.

The KBB value on this car is over $7000. I am asking $6450 obo.

Thanks,
Ben

Check engine lights on Fords are a common thing. Jaguar was owned by Ford well before 1997. The 4.0 litre Jaguar engine has Ford engineering. And mostly Ford sensors. It probably is a dirty oxygen sensor. I talked to several Jaguar dealerships and specialty shops before I bought the car to make certain. All told me it is very common.

Hopefully, this is helpful information for you to use in the future so you don't harm someone else's post by scaring off potential buyers.

Dude, the CEL is not a common thing. It's an indicator of a fault in the system.
Read the code, and since you're so upfront about the car, at least post what the CEL is caused by i.e. error code.
There is no such thing as a dirty o2 sensor

They are correct, a CEL should not be considered common. A CEL can be on for any number of reasons, thus maybe making it look like it is common. However you should have the codes pulled and at least tell the buyers what the codes are. It could be a cheap fix or a several hundred dollar fix.

Also the CEL is not a Ford phenomenon, is it standard along all brands and is just as likely to appear on them. SO if you are on a Ford forum trying to sell a car, it isn't going to help you sell if you talk down about the brand.

BTW that's a nice looking Jaguar. I've always wanted one, maybe someday.

I have owned/driven Ford products for hundreds of thousands of miles. I have NEVER found a CEL to be the fault of anything BUT why the light illuminated. And even then, I believe I've only had a CEL twice in all those thousands of miles. I mirror Mindy's comment. Publish why the CEL is on.

See like I said, you won't find fault with the car. I went down and had the codes pulled. There was nothing. It is going to cost $200 to have the CEL turned off correctly. But then, if the unknown, harmless "problem" trips the code again it will be a waste of $200.

Call any Jaguar Auto Parts dealer. I just found one off eBay and called there number to confirm that it was normal. Their number is 740-881-JAG6. Give them a ring and then tell me if I was wrong. And I will stand corrected and apologize if I offended anyone.

Thanks for pointing out the flaws in my ad.

Here is what a source off the internet said about the Jaguar CEL...
Do YOU Know When It's Time To
Replace YOUR Jaguar Oxygen Sensor(s)?
Although some cars have an oxygen sensor "reminder" light to alert you when it is time to check the oxygen sensor, most do not. So, unless there's a noticeable driveability problem or a "Check Engine" light on, most people have no way of knowing if their oxygen sensor is functioning properly or not.

The people that run the codes for you didn't turn off the light??? It was only one button away on the code reader. It IS ODBII, right? Stop by my house, I'll turn the light off for free. If it comes back on, SOMETHING is turning on the light. This is NOT a FORD thing. It MAY be a Jag thing. I wouldn't buy it until I knew why that light was coming on. And if i9t comes on for no reason, that's reason enough NOT to buy it.

I have never met a CEL that I couldn't turn off.

I've heard the rumors of a "timed" CEL that were set for XX,000 miles to 'milk' the customer to have a dealer maintenance performed at a ridiculous fee but I have never verified one in all the OBDII vehicles I have seen.

Granted, none were Jaguar and most were Ford.

Sounds like you need to take it somewhere else. I've never seen a check engine light on that wasn't associated with a code. You can rent a code reader (usually for free at most auto parts stores) and verify the results for yourself.

You will also be able to turn off the light.

Good luck!

Why is everyone hung up on the CEL?? This is a car for sale...not about Jag CEL's. Please everyone stop cluttering up my post and let the people who are interested in buying nice Jaguars look at my car.

Thanks very MUCH!

Maybe it's because in the description of the vehicle...it is NOT "above AVERAGE condition" cause the CEL is on and you said " "It is a "Ford" so the Check Engine light is on, but it is a common thing for every Ford product." and we don't believe that to be true. "

If you would get that problem taken care of, or let the proposed buyer know why the light is on, before you sell it, perhaps the comments would stop.

Sorry Man, just trying to help you provide information to the buyers. Informed sellers sell cars. :)

You've got our input so I wish you luck selling your car. Later
