I am trying to gather some information about my mark viii and I am hoping that this would be the right place. I own a 1998 Lincoln Mark viii lsc collector's edition. It is #40 off the assembly line. It is pearl white with two tone beige interior, fully loaded with heated seats, moonroof, and even the car phone. I'm trying to get some kind of idea as to the worth of the vehicle. It has been covered and garaged kept since purchased and only has 210 original miles. The car is in pristine condition and even the interior still smells like a new car even though it is 7 years old.I hoping that by posting this on your websight might be able to feed me this information or at least help to guide me in the right direction. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Hard to say, you would need to find the right buyer. Retail pricing is $12K (even with 250 miles). With the right buyer you might be able to get over $20k.
These car depreciate a lot, there is not much of a market for them. They are a sleeper car.

It's definitely going to have to be someone looking for exactly what you have to sell to expect more than a couple grand over retail.

Hell I know at most I would pay about 15 for it. Ain't got the money though. I can tell ya this much, The parts are probably worth more than the car itself. Hell those are all new parts. Hate to see it get dismantled though. I say keep the thing. You'll love it. And why was it driven so little?

Hi. I'm from the Mark VIII.org bunch, and as long as we stay within the realm of "sanity", whatever that is ::roll:: , I might be a serious buyer for your car, my friend. My email address is gale155@mchsi.com.

Thanks.

I hope ya' emailed and pm'd him too, Gale - 'haven't seen him here since his first post...

If it's for sale and I were in the market for a "new" car, I'd definitely be interested!

RE: 1998 lincoln mark 8 lsc collector's edition

the sad part is, we all know what little these cars are worth. This subject has been discussed over and over again. Hell, many (if not most) current Mark VIII owners are such due to the low value of the cars...you can get them cheap, they are a whole lot of car, and knowing what we know, a higher-mileage example isnt out of the question as far as preference.

In the real world, that car should be taken to a consignment store, where other "rare and collectible" cars are sold...not because it can hold its own next to a 68 Shelby GT-500, but because THAT is where serious cellectors look. All it takes is one of them to see the car, realize that it too can be parked next to his Hemi 'Cuda convertible, and stored for 15 more years.

Keep in mind, Collectors see vehicles as investments(go figure). They have the cash flow, and they deposit their money in *cars*, insure them, store them, and sit on them, until one day, the market comes to them. Hell, they control most of the market anyway.

I would say, to the average Mark VIII buyer, the car might fetch $15000-$18000

to a collector, you might see $20,000

If you, yourself, are one such collector, and are hoping now is the time to cash in on this one...sorry Charlie...you made a bad investment.

FWIW, I say take Gale's offer, and run.

Your Lincoln seems very nice from what you say. Nothing beats the smell of fresh leather! I am surprised that you only have that many miles! I love mine and cannot keep from driving it, especially when we go to South Carolina! Mine is black with the grey interior, LSC CE, and it is like that. I have 12,000 miles on it, and it runs like the day it came out of the factory.

I am sad to say though, that these babies can't be sold for even a quarter of what we paid for them. The entertainment is what's the worth of the car, not the car itself. I would only be able to get $5,500 out of mine max! It's sad, but considering the low miles, nice condition and the originality, you could get problably $6,800 or even $7,250 if you're lucky. I worked for Lincoln until 2004 and I talked to an engineer about reselling mine later. He basically said I would have to wait until it's 50 years old to get what I paid for it. So I drive mine all of the time, except for winter.

Thanks for the post, it's good to know that there is a Mark VIII left in this world that is as nice as yours! I wish I had the nerves to NOT drive mine. I now sell cars at a used car dealership in Ohio, and we sold an LSC, nothing wrong with it, but staind floor mats for about $5,800. That beauty should sell for atleast a minimum of $6,800.

Hope I was of some help! Good luck!

OMG. Just stop...really.

Why,it's fun...Considering the original post is about the Mark that's always on auto trader for 35 grand I believe. Good luck with that. :fart
