2 to 3 shift accumulator

Hello all!

Its been a while since my last post, but was just wondering if the 2 to 3 shift accumulator was accessible without removing the valve body?

Also.....would it be worth the time and effort to clean the valve body out and possibly clean that tiny little filter up in there? And does anyone have any advice as to things to look out for such as where the "little ball bearings" are and where they should be for reassembly?

I bought all new 1-2 an2 2-3 shift accumulator parts a while ago and have yet to do the job, but here goes!

In addition, the reason for the swap was due to the car having a long delay in the 2-3 shift unless I keep the rpms low.....basically it "neutrals out" unless the rpms are kept low.

Also....I believe these parts to be correct???

F7AZ-7H292-AB ..... 2-3 piston
F7AZ-7F251-AA ..... 1-2 piston
F4AZ-7F247-A ..... retainer/seal
F75Z-7F284-AA ..... 1-2 spring
F4UZ-7F284-A ..... 2-3 spring..........or should I leave this one out completely?

The 2-3 accumulator is under the main control valve body which must be removed for access.

Look on TCCOA for more 4R70W info on the procedures and troubleshooting advice.

I would not leave out the 2-3 spring.

If you are loosing pressure, the 2-3 shift will sometimes be incomplete. Maybe the 2-3 accumulator, maybe not.

As far as the parts, I am unsure if the numbers have remained the same, but you can search the forums here for part numbers used in the past.

Any idea on what may cause a drop in pressure?

This car has been swapped over to Merc 5 and the filter replaced recently.

Low fluid or leakage past the forward clutch seal rings are the two main reasons.
