I have a 2002 LS8....well first let me say hello to everyone this is my first post:D...but anyway I replaced my pads and rotors twice, and they still squeak...just wanted to know what combination you guys use on your LS's maybe performance based application....also any thoughts on slotted rotors??I heard drilled rotors warp if not installed properly and provide no added increase performance or stopping power.

Welcome to the Lincolns of Distinction!

I have 3 Mark VIII's and have never had that problem with my brakes. I use ceramic brake pads, but I'm not sure if that would make a difference or not.

I've heard that noisey brakes is the number 2 warranty complaint.

I'll move this post to the LS section, as we have a lot of LS owners that might provide some better solutions.

What type of brake pads did you use?! Use quality semi-metallic pads/ceramic pads and make sure all the moving parts of the caliper have plenty of lubrication.

My crown vic was making horrendous noises with nearly new brakes, a set of new good rotors/pads and greasing of pins etc fixed all the noises.

As far as Drilled and/or Slotted Rotors, if you buy a good brand you will have an increase in performance for heavy braking applications and a decrease in brake fluid failure/boil over. Just don't buy any eBay brands and you'll be good.

did you do the brakes yourself.....if you did you should have cleaned the new rotors and pads really good with brake cleaner and also put some disc brake quiet on the back of the pads and grease the sliders....i made the mistake of not doing this and they squealed like crazy

Disc brake quiet is a joke and very messy. Lubricate everything appropriately with antisieze. :D

+1 for cleaning the ROTORS with brake cleaner....do NOT spray anything on the pads....it will soak into the pores and not dry properly.

I have always used brake cleaner on everything. I've never had a problem, Why would it not dry? It seems to dry quickly. What problems could it cause?

Its more of a caution for the n00bs because if you over soak them and they don't dry, the instant you use them they will tend to glaze, and then squeek. :)
