2006 LS Discounts

I went to the Lincoln dealer a couple of times recently to buy parts for my 95 Mark VIII. I took a look at the used Lincoln LS cars they had on the lot. I ended up taking a test drive on a 2005 model with just under 10k miles. It drives a lot like the Mark. I think it is a little slower though.

After getting their best price, I found out they are selling the new 2006 models for invoice minus $8,000. That is over a $10k discount. If anybody is interested in a new one, maybe this is the right time.

LS's aren't all that, even with that discount they are still close to 40k loaded. That is a lot of money, we're talking about IS350 and G35 category. Both cars are faster and have better interiors. It is best to buy a loaded one that is 1-2 yrs old they sell for anywhere from 20-28k. You can save yourself another 10k.

The dealer has 2 2006 models that are stickered $43k and change. The only options I care about are the upgraded stereo and maybe the HID option. They usually have all kinds of crap that I don't care about such as advance trac, side curtains, heated and cooled seats, etc.

RE: 2006 LS Discounts

From what I have seen there are two packages, Premium and Elite. The Premium package is pretty lame, it comes with an "audophile stereo" blah blah, car will sticker for 43k as you said, and sell for around 33. For a few g's more you can get lots of cool features like THX, Navigation heated and cooled seats (which i think are cool). You will get a fully loaded for 35k (after rebates), still a good chunk of change when you can pick them up for a lot less used.

RE: 2006 LS Discounts

The 2005LS that I test drove was the elite package with all the options. It had 9,9xx miles on it. They were asking $29,990 for it with 4% financing. They offered $1500 for my car. $28,490 I offered $25k and my car. Then the sales manager came in and dropped the price to $26,500 and my car.

Yesterday, the sales manager called and dropped the price to $25,560 with my car and they won't budge any more. That is probably not a bad deal but the LS just doesn't excite me like the Mark did when I first test drove it or when i drive it now!

And, I don't care for front drive or all wheel drive G35s. I am an old southern redneck who likes rear wheel drive and V8s under the hood. I am a dying breed.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't think you'll be sastified with the LS after having owned the Mark VIII. I'm not knocking the LS at all either.

The G35 is RWD or AWD

And that V6 has more HP than the V8 in the lincoln. 280 with the auto or 298 with the stick, and it weighs less. Not to pick on the lincoln, but I have driven a G35 and it is like comparing apples to oranges.

edit: That is a really good price on that LS, if it comes with the Navi.

RE: 2006 LS Discounts

The LS now is rated 280hp. It still didn't feel as quick as my Mark. Maybe it was and is just a newer smoother car. The 5 speed transmission shifts quickly and smoothly.

My 27 yr.old son recently drove an AWD G35 rental. he got the chance to beat on it and he couldn't stop talking about it. He told me that it would give my Mark a good run.

(He lives in NYC and doesn't have a car. A couple of Christmases ago, I let him drive my Mark when he came for the holidays. He informed me that if the traction control and OD was turned off, it would spin both rear wheels to 55mph.) Just what I wanted to hear!

RE: 2006 LS Discounts

Hi...I'm new to the boards. Just picked up my new 2006 LS last night. $27,000 out the door with no trade. MSRP was $41,1XX. Love the car so far. Has the factory extended drivetrain warranty to 6 yr/75K that Lincoln just added.

Anything I should be aware of with this car that is a recurring problem?
