245/50...235/60... or stock?

Dear Magic Marker,Have you had any problems with the H-rated tire? Since the Mark is a V-rated car, I'd hate to put an H on it without feeling VERY,VERY comfortable about it. The Traction TA's in a 235 size only seem to come in an H rating. Anybody seen otherwise? Because I like the 235 size I am also considering the Yokohama Avids to get a V rating. By the by, how are the TA's in wet handling? Anyone out there with the Yokos please chime in.:)

The H-rated tires perform flawlessly - no complaints whatsoever. Plus, they're a lot quieter than the V-rated! :) The 235/60s have a serious load index, so I would feel comfortable putting them on. I'm a fairly "spirited" driver, too.

I'm not a big fan of the Yokos - the ones I've had in the past (on a BMW 740) had terrible wet traction, only lasted around 28,000 miles and got progressively noisier. Those weren't Avids, but they soured me on the brand in general.

Highly recommend the H-rated Traction T/As in the 235/60 size.

Scott,
Thanks a bunch! Just checked out the load index, whew!!:D I like the 235/60 sizing, and that was one thing I was concerned about. BFG doesn't make their g-force tires in that sizing, so I was really thinking about the Yokos. They also have a 30 day trial warranty and 60K treadwear warranty (a la the Tire Rack), so I figured I couldn't lose. I see folks say BFG is not up-to-date technology wise, but if if works, it ain't not working IMHO. I think I may get a set of both and keep a spare set of wheels to boot! My LSC is lowered just a smidgen - so they should look fine in the wheelwells. Which Yokos did you have before? The new ones are supposed to be better, but they say that about EVERYTHING nowadays. Again, thanks for the heads-up.

Mark

Still going here about the Yokohama Avids and BFG Traction TA's. I was just talking to Max at 5 Star Ford about rims and decided NOT to sell my chromes. So I think I'll be getting two sets of wheels. Any one out there with some input about the Yoko Avids in a 235/60/16 sizing? I got a great quote from a local Tires Plus guy in my area, making them even MORE attractive. I think I'll try them AND the TA's and get some more rims so I can compare side by side. Even though the weather here in Atlanta doesn't get very bad, usually rain and an occasional dusting of snow, I think I'll use the TA's in the summer, Yokos when the weather changes. Since this is the greatest board out there in cyberspace, any comments are welcome.:D
