255/55/18 to tall?

I have some 18x8's with 35mm offset and I'm trying to kill a few birds with one stone: I want something taller than stock (26.63" vs 29.04") in order to help compensate for the 3.73 speedo gear I have in there with my 4.10 rear. I want to fill the wells a little better and also have a large contact patch. The best part is that tirerack has BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW-2's for $131 in 255/55 size whereas their 255/45's are $161.
Does anyone know if a setup like that will cause problems up front?
As a not: i'm on stock-height coils so autolowering wont enter into the picture.
If anyone thinks it will be to large up front i'm just going to go with the 255/55 out back and a 255/45 up front?
Thanks!

I would say that is not going to fly. I have 255/50R17 on 17X8" Bullitt replicas and had a minor rubbing issue in dips. That said, a wheel with a more + offset would have eliminated that problem. However - your talking about a huge increase in diameter (3" on a car is gigantic). I personally would look for a size with a diameter no greater that 27.5" at the most (my size is 27.1")
