ok so here goes i have a gen 1 mark with 3.73 gears, 3600 stall, MSD coils and wires, autolight 764 plugs gapped at .065, punched out cats and the muffs cut off with tips welded on. tonight i hit the streets with the 28x11.50 R15 mickey ET streets mounted up on the rear set at about 19psi. i line up with this 3800 SC regal bring it up to about 2500 rpm hands drop and all heck brakes loose and so do the rear tires almost all the way through first gear. the regal puts his rear door at my fender and cant get away untill about 90 mph when his KR sets in so we let off. next is a grand prix GT with the 3800 SC swapped in this time a do a short burn out to clean the tires and put a little heat in them this time i try a 2200 rpm launch still the same thing sideways almost all the way through first gear but this time i put about a car on him and he just stays there.
so what gives? why am i bowing away my 11.5" slicks? true it is a unpreped street (oops did i say street i mean un prepped track) but it still spins them a little at the strip. must i look for a bigger tire or what? even with my 245/50r16 street tires leaving in 2nd gear from about a 2000 rpm launch it spins up to about 30-35mph then finely hooks. with the 245's in first gear i can roll into it and chirp them all the way untill it hits 2nd. what more can i do to put the power down in my car? do they make any type of traction bars for a IRS sorta like they do for live axle cars? would the poly bushings in the rear hela it slick any? right now i just have stock rubber bushings in it but all are either new or farley new.
