Well i figured it would fit as the one driller recommends is almost the same size. I'll find a home for it. :D

As long as it fits it will do the job... that cooler is better than no cooler at all and is prob better than the small plate style.

lol that is mammoth driller

so i did some thinking and although that is a killer deal, im wicked crazy about how i do stuff to my car and since if i have to drill into the car i'm only doing it once, so i'm going to get the cooler i want the first time. I was gonna cheap my way through just to get the jmod in and buy a better cooler later but whats another 100 bucks? ...lol

anyway

look what i found on summit

Its a FRPP with a built in regulator for cold fluid, thats freaking sweet. It automatically bypasses it. I do not want to run a thermostatic valve on the cooler just for fear that it my fail so thats a pretty sweet alternative made by ford racing.

Better than one-third more efficient.
The unique, patented, stacked-plate design of Ford Racing HD transmission coolers offers a 35 percent improvement in efficiency over fin-and-tube coolers. These coolers weigh only 2.5 lbs., but have a full 18,000 lb. GVW rating. Their self-regulating design bypasses cold transmission fluid automatically, without thermostats or valves, until its viscosity decreases and allows fluid to flow through the main body of the cooler. The coolers come with hose, clamps, fittings, and mounting hardware.

Its either going to be that this one from b & m

I installed a Tru-Cool 30k in front of Max's radiator on his Gen 2, it was a pain to get up in the empty area in front, but after its in there you have plenty of room to mount it. I had the small one like Roadboss on my car and it worked good too.

here's mine, I believe it is the same trans cooler as driller. I have it in both of my marks, it works very well. It is rated for 40k lbs vehicle weight!

for a few more pics and an idea of what is needed to install it like I have, here is a link to my car domain page.

How did you get that in there without removing the hood latch assembly?

My setup looks EXACTLY the same, except your latch spot welds are not drilled out like mine are.

Took the bumper cover off for other reasons so I though it would be a good time to put on the large cooler.

On a gen two you can just take out the lower bumper cover access plate and slide it right up.

A word from experience... don't buy the one(s) with a thermostatic valve unless you live in the Great White North. In practice, the transmission has no problems getting up to temperature and the cold oil is more viscous and does not flow through the cooler as efficiently as warm oil anyways.

Another word of advice, if you use the cooler as a standalone unit (bypassing the radiator tank cooler), then be sure to install a transmission fluid temperature guage as it will be your only indicator should there be a problem in the future! ;)

I put the same one in my car with some Parker line and bypassed the rad. It's mounted the same as your pic too.
Great cooler. :)
