Just a few questions on which pulleys to buy for the car.
Steeda sells a pair for the 4.6L GT and I heard some of you's here have them on your cars. I should be purchasing a set soon and just wish to know which ones to buy.
Wanna make sure they fit on the Mark just fine.

RE: 4.6L UD Pulleys

Just ask for the 96-98 Cobra unit. Tell Lee that I sent you, he will know exactly what you need.

RE: 4.6L UD Pulleys

Of course or I wouldn't reccomend it.

I am just kinda surprised one pulley will help much by its self. What kind of gains have you seen on a dyno with the single pulley swap?

RE: 4.6L UD Pulleys

Ive seen 5-7 or better on Cobra's from the crank pulley/dampner alone.

Thats where most of the power is had anyway.

Plus the Lincoln is a highly electrical dependent car and when using the 3-piece set's in my experiences as well as many others the car may act funny and cause pre mature alternator failure.

Then the water pump pulley is so massive the cars run up to 10% hotter.

IMO the trade off isnt worth it for sacrificing my alternator and running me hotter which will in turn slow me down too just for 2-3 hp if that (Idoubt It).

I just play it safe and use what Ive had the best luck and results with for the past 5 years.

RE: 4.6L UD Pulleys

Anybody know the part no. or length of belt one would need if they went to the UD crank pulley only?

RE: 4.6L UD Pulleys

how much smaller is this pulley?

Id say go to your local All-Pro or NAPA, tell them what you have and then tell them what you need, they will probably be able to hook you up.

RE: 4.6L UD Pulleys

$149 just for the ASP crank pulley, The ASP set runs anywhere from $180-$210, the $180 set was off of RPMoutlet.com.
Anthony, I also called Lee about a year ago and than about 6 months ago, both times he quoted me $149.

I asked Steeda for a quote on their crank pulley, they quoted me $100 but I ended up buying the whole Steeda set for $159. I took Geno's advice and I recomend you do the same, which is just run the crank pulley only.

The Steeda and ASP Crank pulley are the SAME size. The crank pulley is about the size of the stock waterpump pulley. If you only run the crank pulley you WILL NEED a belt about 2-2.5 inches shorter

The Steeda and ASP set are EXACTLLY the same, ASP "claims" that steeda copied their set, of course this is what ASP told me. You decide where you want to put your money, but remember they are the same.
