Okay guys, I need a little help
I am using Windows 98 and Internet Explorer & Outlook Express. I have 870 DELETED e-mails in my deleted e-mail section. Is there a way that I can delete them ALL - without doing it one at a time, by highlighting the e mail, then moving cursor arrow up top to word DELETE, and then to YES when it asks "Are you sure you want to delete this?" ~
It would be great to just be able to do something else and kill all 830 at one time, but I don't wanna fool around on my own, as I DON'T wanna delete my current regualr e-mails that I have on (in) my e-mail, just wanna clear out my e-mail trash deleted stuff.

RE: 4th Grade Computer Student Needs HELP!!!

try this sandy----

highlight the first email -- then while holding the shift button down, click on the last one...DONT let go of the shift button until after you clicked the last one.....they should all highlight, and can be deleted at once.....

lemmie know if that helps

RE: 4th Grade Computer Student Needs HELP!!!

Just go under the edit menu and pick, "select all". oy vay

No, really...Thanks.

Steve, I did it before you posted, but thanks anyhow.

RE: 4th Grade Computer Student Needs HELP!!!

steve's suggestion works too -- but not in all cases.....

often when you want to choose several selections in a row, use what I told you... if you want to pick several in a list that are not in order, use ctrl instead of shift

Ahhh.... I think I'll pass on that invite! ;)

I've always wished that we could take the customers to the F & I guy FIRST. If they do well in there, then we could sell them the car for invoice!!

RE: 4th Grade Computer Student Needs HELP!!!

folder in three mouse clicks.

If you right click on the Deleted Items folder in the left hand pane of Outlook Express, one of the options is

Empty 'Deleted Items' Folder

If you click on this option, you will then be asked

Are you sure you want to permanently delete the contents of the 'Deleted Items' Folder?

Click on Yes.

RE: 4th Grade Computer Student Needs HELP!!!

There is also the shift+del feature. Once you highlight all the emails and hold down the shift key and click the "X" on the tool bar - they will bypass the deleted items folder.

RE: 4th Grade Computer Student Needs HELP!!!

Thank you to all!
I never had so much willing help, for a problem. Now ~ if you guys could only solve some of my other (non-computer) problems ;)

RE: 4th Grade Computer Student Needs HELP!!!

Your welcome Sandy.

RE: 4th Grade Computer Student Needs HELP!!!

Control-A selects all, then hit delete. Then delete it from the deleted items. I love nuking junk mail.

RE: 4th Grade Computer Student Needs HELP!!!

speaking of keyboard shortcuts, the windows key and D automatically minimizes all windows. I find that one handy when my boss walks up.
