I just got my junkyard 4.6 block that I'm going to build a supercharged 5.0 with. I had planned to go the big bore route because it allows for higher rpms, better filling of the cylinder, and it unshrowds the valves more. However, when I talked to Houston Performance about getting the engine built, they said they would only feel comfortable going with a stroker kit on a supercharged car. They said that there could be some head gasket sealing problems on a big bore with the higher gas pressures from the supercharger. They had never built a forced induction big bore before, so they didn't want to do it on a customer car until they had tested it out.
Does anybody know of anyone running a supercharged big bore, and did they run into any problems. Houston Performance is really cool being honest and cautious, but I really wanted to go big bore. Anybody know any shops that would try this?
