Just in case the insurance co tries to hose me when they appraise my 93 after the wreck on Friday, What would a good $$ figure to put on it.

It is the eggplant color with moonroof,cd,updated etac, fairy new tires and Brakes, New Radiator (still good) and up until the wreck falwless body. This car has around 115k but it has never seen a winter, just my daily commuter with 120 miles a day during the summer monthes.

I have checked NADA,Edmunds, etc and they don't consider this a high mileage car or at least they didn't show and mileage deduction. Thy all came back around 4-7000 for a retail value.

Thanks Guy

RE: 93 Value

The mileage won't kill ya. My insurance agent recently appraised mine at $5500. My '93 has 105K miles. By appraised, that is to say what the total max payout would be. Basically what they would write the check for if it was considered totaled. BTW, upgrades, mods and recent repairs do not count.

RE: 93 Value

I have been worring about the same thing. My car a 94 now has 175k I have put a lot of money into it over the last year new tranny, bushings, wheel bearings, shocks, raditor, water pump, hoses, etc. etc. and I know if some a-hole runs into me and totals out the car I will be lucky to get 3 or 4 grand for it and I have almost that much in the tranny alone.

RE: 93 Value

On the plus side, if someone runs into it, it can be totalled with very little damage (okay maybe that's not a plus). But when you get your payout, you can turn around and buy the car back for almost nothing.

I work with a girl who drives a cutlass ciera. She got hit, and the car was totalled. The car had a tiny dent a the corner of the quarterpanel, a slightly messed up bumper cover, and a broken taillight. I think she netted like $2000 after they totalled it and she bought it back and fixed it, but maybe it was only $1000. She found a junkyard taillight and got some touch up paint for the dented spot (didn't bother making it look good, it's just a cutlass ciera). She netted a serious profit and is still driving the same car, with just a little dent.

RE: 93 Value

The biggest problem with mine is the air bags, you can't leagally put used ones in in NY. God I hate this state!!!

RE: 93 Value

I guess it all depends on how bad it is hit.

Just the price one must pay for modding and/or keeping up an old car.

Still better than $500/mo car payments I guess.

RE: 93 Value

When my 96 Diamond Anniversary Edition was totaled the insurance company refused to sell it to me. It's been my experience that what you're paid depends on the mood of the adjustor on that particular day.

RE: 93 Value

It's totaled...
Just have to wait until next week due the holiday to find out how bad they are going to screw me. The adjuster gave the highest rating possible but now I must wait on the Total dept. PITA
