95 Mark Viii Headlight Removal?

Hello All,

I've been staring at my 95 Mark's headlight assemblies and for the life of me, I cannot figure out how to remove them from the car. I've searched on here but could only find 98 removal procedures. Please help me out, I'm about to install a plug and play HID conversion kit I bought on an internet auction. Thank you in advance for any help!!!

This is one of those obvious things that is not so obvious to those that do not know.

There are several(4?) green retaining clips on horizontal posts that hold the headlamp in place. You can use a small screwdriver to pry them off or an external snap ring tool with 90 degree tips. If you break, bend or loose any, you can find replacements at your parts store "Help" section.

I hope you are installing a new set of proper lenses as well as bulbs and ballast. Putting HID bulbs into the halogen housing is not street legal and causes glare to on coming traffic.

I put a real HID setup in my Halogen lenses, it's about a 200% difference over halo's. And, yeah, it prolly isn't street legal, but I haven't been flashed by any oncoming traffic, so, apparently it doesn't bother them, say, as much as constantly driving with my high-beams on to see anything at night. Plus, not all of us have a cool grand to blow on the "proper HID assemblies"

Thank you Scotty for not judging me and making me feel like a pear shaped loser. I found out that it was "illegal" after I had already paid for the HID kit via auction so it was not intentional. At any rate, I installed the kit and it is beautiful and bright and I can actually drive with the low beams on. In addition, nobody has flashed me once while driving down the road. Hope you love your HID's as much as I do!!

The point was not to judge you, merely make you aware that they were not legal if you were not already aware of it. If law enforcement ever begins to enforce this, there will be lots of people getting citations.

Thank you for informing me of the legality of the kits, I really had no idea they were illegal. These companies all say they are DOT legal and totally street legal, so I believed them. I didn't mean to be rude with my response. Do cops even know what cars came with HID's or not?

It would just be my guess that some officers may be aware of this, but not all. Like anything else though, if it becomes an issue, they will likely receive some type of training on the matter, and be put on the street to write citations. Most likely a list of vehicles equipped with HID's will be compiled and made availible to law enforcement. I can tell you this though, bright blue bulbs behind a faceted halogen lens is a dead give away. The glare is the biggest problem.
