95 Mark VIII Lash Adjuster Replacement

I've got a 95 Mark VIII, 175,00 miles, several mods etc. Anyway it's had this ticking for a long time. Pretty much since I bought the thing 3 years ago. It's always gone away after the car runs for about 10mins. I've used the various snake oils and they've helped... periodically. The noise always comes back, but like I said, once the car warms up the noise is virtually non-existent. It doesn't hurt the power of the car.(just dyno'd 2 weeks ago, 258rwhp) It just bugs me and it's time to fix it. I'm about 99% sure it's a weak lash adjuster(s) It seems as if the ticking is coming from the intake manifold but I know that noises tend to travel. I've already bought the lash adjusters and then I read that Ford recommends replacing the rocker arms at the same time. (wear patterns, i assume) Now for the questions. Is that REALLY necessary? I know I probably should but....;) Also, If I get into the valve train and decide to replace the valve springs, can I do that with the heads on the car? Now for the dumb question. There's nothing inside or under the intake that could cause this ticking noise that gets quieter the warmer the engine gets is there? I've never heard of IMRC's making noises. Although mine don't like to open til 5,000rpms when the engine's cold. (I RARELY punch a cold engine but sometimes... late for work eh.) I know what rod knocks and serious engine noises sound like and this is definetly not a knock, it's a tick, like the lifters in old small blocks. The lowest the car has ever gotten on oil since I've had it is 1/2 quart fyi.
